Lightning does strike twice.

3 weeks ago, I was standing in the corridor when a lightning bolt hit nearby. I heard St. Elmo's fire crackling in the building at the instant of the flash, well before the thunder was heard. I rushed inside to start turning stuff off. Then another strike hit close enough to somehow set off the fire alarms in my apartment (and not the neighbors). My computers were safe, but my cablemodem was fried.

Last week, I saw another storm coming right for us. Being understandably paranoid, I unplugged all the computers and the new cablemodem. We got hit again. Fire alarm's somehow going off again and everything. After the storm passed, my internet connectivity was still down. I find out there was one ethernet switch I'd forgotten to unplug. The power plug had somehow dislodged itself from the jack, and the ethernet ports were blown up on the 2 computers plugged into that switch.

And a few days ago, another storm passes close by. No direct hits this time, but I had my camera out and ready. Since God and/or Zeus are apparently trying to smite me, I might as well try to get pics of my demise, right?

Here's the best shot I got of this round. More storms are in the forecast tomorrow so hopefully I can do better!

What surprised me the most is that the reflection is split across the middle and flipped 180 degrees--I didn't expect the reflection in a sphere to be like that. The round bump in the center of the bubble is the top of my head
