Nice job Stargazer....the color is spot on. You obviously set your white balance correctly whereas I did not.

yeah, you don't need to shoot at a high ISO...that will tend to show dead pixels and record the most minimal light which you don't want.

But it allowed me to shoot without a tripod --I know what you mean, though. I usually try to keep it at the lowest ISO.

Increasing the ISO number amplifys the output of the sensor, so less light is needed for the same exposure. This in turn creates a "grainier" or more noisy image, but also allows you to use a higher shutter speed in the same light conditions. Grain can be easily reduced in post processing via various programs such as NeatImage or NoiseNinja.

However.....if you shoot with a Canon DSLR, high ISO noise isn't much of a concern.

very true, but in conditions where you're already using a longer exposure, you don't want your ISO too high because you don't want all light to come in. in these pics, you'd get some small lighter areas in the black you don't want. granted, photoshop can assist you but that doesn't help those who don't understand.

and yes, canon does do a better job shooting in a higher ISO than Nikon does.

Don't worry mate. I have onl posted it on here and on nasioc and both times I have credited you. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...&postcount=366 as you can see.

I made a bad mistake last year, by posting pictures of a 22b and a p1 without asking or crediting them , So i know now.

but any ways, thanks for the great pic mate.
