Speed shots

Does anyone know how, or what i need, to take a picture of my car while at speed? What I am looking for is the car to look still, but everything in the background, and the wheels to be blurred.

What do you mean exactly? something like this...

For that kind of shot, you would need to have a slow shutter speed and be panning(following, actually aim just ahead of the car) the car. A good telephoto lens helps tons also. As would a Tri or Monopod.

I took that shot at the USGP this year, i had my shutter speed down around 150 and just simply followed the car as it went by.
