Challenge #9:

Rules for Submission
* The main subject of your photo must be one (1) person
* The composition must abide by the rule of thirds (ask if you don't know)
* No cars or anything having to do with cars
* Must be your own work
* Must be taken today or after today
* Photo should not have any kind of watermark, border, or distinguishing marks
* Photo should be no more than 800px on the long side
* JPEG, JPG or PNG will be the only formats i'll accept
* Photo needs to be emailed to parker {@} socalsubies dot com with the subject line in the following format: Photo Challenge #9 - [insert your username]

This is open to any/all IWSTI members...please feel free to spread the word! People wishing to enter from other boards need to become an IWSTI member first.

go to a place where there are a lot of people and take some pictures. Just have to be a bit discrete about it though since people don't always like it when people take pictures of them

what's the reason for this parker? so called "rules" like these only limit people IMO.

Thats what makes it a photo challenge And thats where I'm having the trouble. Rule of 3rds, where do I put the person, what should be in the background, how should they pose....aaaaahhhhh!!!!!

everything you said is part of composition, which you shoudl be thinking about regardles of 2/3's or not.

It's very easy to snap a photo with a person dead center...having the rule of thirds forces you to think about composition.

For example, a baby laying down on the ground playing with toys...it's very easy to snap and be done. By forcing you to think in the rule of thirds, you can get creative with your posing, composition, background, etc.

And these challenges are going to get a little more detailed and "difficult" to promote learning and growth.
