Can you tell me why? For me photography is a bunch of happy accidents that have a little bit of coaxing from me. I want to make it more coaxing and less accident.

You and every other photographer in the world...lol.

I like the pic for several reasons, which is why it's money. The colors are nice, as well as the bokeh, I can tell exactly what you were focusing on, but have no idea what's outside the car, the convergence is good, it's just a damn good pic...lol.

Ask Parker, he's the ultimate critic (a compliment).

Just remember that a HUGE amount of good photography is happy-accident.

I liked the first pic way better. I didn't find this one to be "money" for a few reasons:

1) The focus point is off (it's focuses on the boot instead of the knob).
2) The subject is dead in the middle of the frame (try using the rule of thirds)

The first pic looks too set-up for me, but hey, we all have different tastes. The shift knob/boot pic breaks all kinds of rules, but was the most pleasing to my eye.

I agree with #1, #2 no so much. Its more of a portrait type picture.

All these tips are helpful. I may want to try my hand at this again.

I don't do photography, but I would love to see the shift knob one set outside at night, with some public lighting in the background and done in black/white. Move the focus up to the knob a little more and shift the knob just ever so slightly off the center of the pic. You could even do a black/white photo with some slight neon lighting (from signs or something) in the background and do a color accent of just the lights.
