Default Finally I contribute some pics! Beware lots o pics!

I picked up a Nikon D40 a little while ago and have been getting used to the functions and what not. I am thinking about doing some local photography gigs as my knowledge level increases, so please let me know what you think!

The STI is mine, the RSX-S and LGT are a couple of friend's cars. All pics were taken at night with no flash, the light motion photos were done using a long shutter speed. The only adjustments made to the pics was a slight change of the brightness/contrast curves, and the addition of the borders. Any tips/tricks or so forth are greatly appreciated also.

cool pics man. I picked up one of those cameras recently too and am still trying to learn the ropes. Generally, good pics, let me be picky: I'd like to see better lighting on the cars. #5 and #6 are cool ideas, I'd like to see a better, lower vantage point combined with better lighting. #18 has great contrast between WRB and the green grass, but again, I think the car needs more foreground lighting. #20 I like the composition, but turn the wheels straight. Keep it up You can never post too many pics.

edit- Also, size... 640x426 looks like a postage stamp on my 24" 1920x1200 monitor!

Overall, I was going for a darker "look", because I was feeling it at the time so I chose that spot because it had back lighting to highlight the outline of the car more. I agree about turning the wheels straight, I wanted to kick myself when I got home and saw the pic but what can you do? Thanks for the advice, I will incorporate some of it into my next shoot!

Same setup here

The pics look good though, though slightly oversaturated/overexposed?

It could be worse... I'm on a 30" 2560x1600. I didn't know there were pics in this thread until you said something...lol OK, it's not that bad, but they are quite small.

I have the high res 3008x2000 if you want them, as well as the untouched versions. I only resized them to make it faster loading.

Ben, if I posted one of the original files, would you retouch it to show me some things?

oversaturated, yes. overexposed, no.

I like your style but I agree that as a critic, i'd rather see more of the car than the outline of the car. If you're looking to do a silhouette style, it should be all or nothing IMO (show all of the car and no silhouette or show none of the car and just the silhouette).

Thanks for clearing that up, I get them confused a lot.

Thanks for all the comments guys, i really do appreciate them. I am trying to get better with photoshop, as well as shooting the pics. Does anyone want to take one of the originals and give it a shot versus my pics to show me some different techniques or tricks or something?
