Thumbs up Integra Type R to STI - Soon To Join the Dark Side - 56K=Death

Hey guys,

This post is half intro, half pictures, so I figured I'd post here due to the amount of pictures.

I'm currently a proud Type R owner, and long time Honda fanatic. I participate actively in the community, host Type R specific meets every year, and am active in local motorsports (mainly lapping days). I love my vehicle to death, but it does come with its negatives. Insane theft rates, high insurance, sub-par practicality, and the fact that my car gets driven around 7-800 miles per year since I've owned it, all equate into a car that is just not fit for my current lifestyle and living arrangements. I recently bought a new condo, and therefore lost my only garage spot. Rather than risk theft, I figured it was time to move on.

Enter, the STI. I'm in the process of selling my Type R, and beginning the search for an immaculate 05 with low/moderate miles, bone stock. I'm really anxious to make the switch, and know that the STI will be able to provide the gusto I need for lapping days, as well as every day practicality. I'm also an avid snowboarder, so the STI will be used for trips into the mountains as well. A feat that the Type R is just not up for.

My plans for the STI are simple ... Coilovers, R-Comps, and lots of track time. That's it.

Here are some pics of the current whip, and a few pics of the most recent trip into the mountains:

my 98 Spec w/56K Miles - Will be sad to see her go.

This past February in the Revelstoke backcountry, British Columbia, Canada (oh, btw ... I'm a Canuck )

Destination: Mt. McKenzie Summit (taken from sub peak - 8000Ft.) - Start hiking!

The cornices were about a 50ft drop this year into the back bowl ... We found a spot that was about 15ft and dropped in the day before!

A better look at yesterdays drop in point.

Long way to go still

Rounding the peak

Hiked to the summit and almost got blown over by wind! This is what we spotted from mid-summit

Me, sweating my ass off at 8000ft. Lets go get some pow!

Oh baby ... fresh tracks

Time to strap in.

Look forward to chatting with you all at some point, and really looking forward to becoming a part of the Subaru community

I also had an ITR before the STi, and I'm a Canuck too. Good luck with the search!

(I still miss the ITR once in a while, what a great car).

Ah, my dream car when I was in high school. I used to see a yellow ITR all the time when I was in high school and it made me jealous everytime. It was a hell of a car for its day, but I think you'll be more than happy with the move to the STi.

You are correct 07 model with C02s.

Thanks for the compliments guys! The ITR was definitely my early twenties dream car. I've had an absolute blast with the car, and she's a giant killer on the circuit, but I figure life is too short to only love one car.

Really looking forward to the STI. I have a friend who posts on here with an 06 CGM and he was kind enough to let me have some seat time. I instantly fell in love with the STI. It's not as raw feeling as the ITR, but for a daily driver, raw doesn't really equate to practical. Cant wait to throw on some V710's and hit the track.

Good luck on finding your STi. I too owned an ITR before my STi. You'll be very happy with the STi, but you will miss your ITR EVERYDAY. There is no doubt about that. I've always been a Honda fanatic as well, so it was a big step going to Subaru, but I'm glad I did.

I agree. I definitely will miss the R. This car has a great sense of community too which is one of the main reasons I bought the car. I've met a lot of great people through the ITR community, and I hope to have the same sort of experience with the STI!
