it's a little overdone and lacks some contrast. the white looks more grey than it should. try setting the white balance and manually adjusting the colors around the car because you have the halo effect going on

I guess try bringing the white point down? I haven't been using adobe just tone mapping in photomatix

i haven't messed with photomatix much, but im thinking the original files aren't capturing enough color/light to give you a decent looking shot to begin with. Plus, you've got some green mixed in with the white which may be throwing things off

do you rec. I use cs or something to adjust individual color levels? does that shot just suck or what? I thought it was decent but maybe not. is my hdr totally whack

I like the original better. Photomatix has a tendency to make images look too "worked". You can use Photoshop to get a much better result.

Does just the merging of the hdr work better in photoshop, or the amount of adjustments for tone etc..

the first 2 look pretty neat in hi res.

really? I think this one above is much better looking than the original posted.

I have only used photoshop for merging so I can't compare but hey, do it in both and see what each program comes up with.

if you shoot in raw and merge in raw, you'll probably get a greater range of adjustments
