Default Blizzard in Texas!

Well... it's a lot of snow for Texas anyway. It's not too uncommon for us to get a little bit of light snow each winter but usually it's not like this. It seems to have accumulated 3 to 4 inches in places in just a couple hours and it's still snowing.

So... never having driven this car in this much snow, I went out to an area I knew had no traffic and had the advantage of having gentle curbs.

* This is not recommended on 255/40-17 Falken RT615's *

I found a few places that literally have not been driven on at all since it started snowing and so it was nice and slippery. These roads also had nothing in terms of salt or sand. So I took it easy to get the feel of the car. And I worked up to getting it to rotate, slide, and pull out of corners. It was kinda slow but an interesting experience anyway, even if those Falken's could barely get any traction at all. AWD worked beautifully of course and pulled me up the driveway after I was all done...

I'll go out and take some more pictures after it's accumulated a little more.

no kidding...I had to run out to FedEx this afternoon, and I took the wagon instead of the STi, but I was 4 wheel dorifto-ing around intersections, and not on purpose... its pretty gnarly out there on super sticky street/track tires.

side note: your wheels are great looking! What are they?

It sure is. Quite slippery. I tried to get some momentum going with just a slight amount of wheel spin in 1st gear, and I was just spinning my tires for a looong way down the road.

Thanks. They're 17x8.5" TRMotorsports MT1's. Available at TireRack.com.

I'm selling my set of stock BBS wheels & Bridgestone RE01R tires for cheap if you're interested. [shameless plug]

I couldn't leave this one alone. I had a little more fun in Photoshop.

Everything is grayscale except the car...

And here's the very rare red STI (usually only comes out at night)...

Great pics - I like what you done with them.

I live in the South West of the UK and it is now very rare to get snow - We are due a severe storm tonight but that will only be high winds and heavy rain.
