Carlsbad Caverns

I just got back from a trip to New Mexico so I thought I'd share some pictures. The caverns are absolutely incredible...it's like being on Mars!

hahaha, I was wondering where there were caverns in Carlsbad until I read that this was in New Mexico.

I grew up in Carlsbad and our only claim to fame came from the Caverns. Extremely beautiful place to visit.

A bit of history: The Caverns were discovered by a rancher who saw one of his cows disappear before his eyes. He went to investigate and found an incredibly deep and dark hole. Later they explored the hole which revealed its crazy terrain. No one ever said what became of the poor cow.

Also, if you ever wanted to know what true darkness is go on a tour of the Caverns. Some Guides will turn off the lights to give you the experience.
