Just bought a new camera today and had no idea what the manual settings meant.

Ben, I just got myself a 400D as well. For now I'll just run around using the kit lenses. I got the EF 75-300mm also. I find that experimenting and practice makes things faster to understand. I'll pick something, or a still life set-up, and photo that same thing in all the different modes and config's to see the differences. It works and your write def. helps!
If you have any more little tips/tricks with the 400D that would be great!
Todd

not really...I have some general items that I feel could be helpful but nothing I would consider "professional tips". to be quite honest, i use aperture for most of my more important photos. i use photoshop more for the clone stamp and ability to edit them how i'd like.

i'll definitely contribute to the thread though...I just don't have the creativity to start one

Yeah that... Awesome guide, can't wait for the RAW/Post portion of the guide!

You should also do an HDR part, or maybe a separate guide on that. No one seems to get it right when they try, but I've seen it done so amazingly well before by a few people.

Wow! This is great! I'm going to be getting a good DSLR sometime soon, and this was the BEST explanation of all this stuff I've ever read. Thanks!
