I have a question though... the wastegate openinng thing is not a bellmouth... how does this downpipe help performance? is it as effective as a bellmouth or divorced?

I'll let you know about the DP...

The plate over the wastegate is designed to prevent boost creep, the downpipe itself is larger in diameter so it helps the turbo breath better. I won't go as far as to say that it's more effective than a bellmouth / divorced, but it worked great on my car and it picked up a lot of power.
