his list of instructions: I wouldn't recommend taking the fenders off its easier on a car and much easier if the car is lifted off the ground a little. so you're not on your hands and knees for the low stuff. Prepping the car is very important.. has to be clean everywhere.. wiped with isopropyl. tricky spots primed with 3m "primer 94" an adhesive promoter. any small spot of moisture will keep the vinyl from adhering. the garage has to be above 70 degrees for best results. none of my local suppliers carry the 48" matte width in stock it has to be special ordered. suplliers do not sell it in "sheets". just rolls 150' in lenght. a 24" x 150' roll is about $190 last time i checked. heres.. an option. ive never used FDC films.. but i have gotten stuff from beacon graphics before. good company to work with. http://www.beacongraphics.com/bgllc/...03-040&eq=&Tp= or to try a smaller roll 30"wide. x 30 feet. http://www.beacongraphics.com/bgllc/...2-3010&eq=&Tp= he also said that with him and 3 others from our local site helping, 4 heat guns, etc., that we'd have it knocked out in 4 hours. optimal temp. @ 70 degrees, and I'm at school in an apt. with no garage. my mother has a 2-car garage at her house, and 4 extra space heaters, she's my closest option if I wanted it done before June.

| after having the Porsche less than a year, we've decided to get rid of it. these 996s are nothing like the 993s or 964s. I know, obviously, but, we weren't expecting how insane certain things are on these cars. aside from $6k exhausts, $2k tuning software, it's just gotten to be too much of a hassle. PSS10s, exhaust, and wheels will be removed before trading in. I'll either get my share of the $ back, or invest it in a new project. my dad's thinking of getting another 996 that's already somewhat modded, or an tiptronic Turbo. an S4, S5, A5, and A6 are also in his thoughts. I'm going to be making brake cooling ducts for where the side fog grilles are. they keep falling out, and I've found a mounting bracket with a pre-cut 3" hole already. it'll be a nice project when it's warmer. I'm also getting a set of 275/40/18s for the car, and I need to snag then soon. autocrossing starts at the end of April! Last edited by ACHAHockey; 03-19-2010 at 11:08 AM. |

You seem like the right person to know this, but have the 993 GT2's ever make it to the states? Those are some badass machines! I can't imagine their aftermarket being any cheaper though then the 996s.

| I'm pretty sure they did. my dad would love a 993 Turbo, but they're still $120k. these 996s are dipping in to the low 30s. |

for obvious reasons. I love the 993's. Probably my favorite style Porsche. Those and the impossible-to-get-unless-your-Seinfeld Porsche 959's. That is a sweet machine.

Never the less, excitement for the next machine is most certainly growing. Last edited by WANTED-; 03-19-2010 at 06:40 PM. |

Amar, as of now, air > water. I miss everything of those cars. the sounds, the feel, the smell. the cars aren't difficult to mod, just time consuming, and now hit-or-miss. buying a previously modded Turbo will be a much better route. a Turbo with a hybrid (18g/K24) conversion, with exhaust and EM will put out well into the low 500s. that's a good number for us. we'd probably then see about opening up more power and bring it to Innovative for a tune. I'd want something that could take a Z06 down on the streets if needed, and then on the track as well.

| hell yes. the 959s were extremely awesome. they imported 50 to the states about 5 years ago, and then had a registered Porsche shop make them legal to drive here. I think they were going for close to $600k. |

The best description IMO is one that someone else authored- ''Delicious, hot burning air cooled oil'' FTW. Last edited by WANTED-; 03-21-2010 at 06:39 AM. |
