IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 | Thats exactly how I am. I also don't usually ever race someone. It just is really something that isn't necessary to do unless you want to prove something. I have nothing to prove either, I just love my car and don't want to risk getting in trouble with the law by doing stupid things with it that could get it taken away. If I want to go fast I just find spots where I know I won't be bothered and let her rip. |

| Professional STI Driver Feedback Score: 3 reviews | Sounds like you got beat up by a car that might have beaten you even if you had a good map running on your car. V-8's with bolt ons are hard to beat in a strait line, your playing into your weakness and their strength. No shame in losing, but a ton of shame for running all out on the street. Just remember you could end up in jail, if anything happens to you, the other driver, or any other person who happens to walk/drive into your path. I'd say 90% of the people who end up in a street racing accident would have described the road exactly as you did. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 | I'll second that. I'm a late bloomer, in that I only recently went Stage 2 with my '06. Before that I'd drive the car pretty hard... but now I'm a lot happier just cruising around. The inner satisfaction of knowing what she'll do is a lot more gratifying than trying to show off... |

Yes its probably not the best map to run a LS1 equipped Camaro, but it was one of those undisciplined acts of impulsion. And yes I don't really approve of street racing, but keep in mind this was a really deserted flat top, that sees little or any cars that joins to a private road at the end. With flat run offs on both ends and absolute no vegetation on either sides. So other then killing some bugs on the windshield, the risk of a hazardous situation is low.

The risk of a ticket or worse is a very slim one indeed. We are talking about a very deserted country road that join up into a private road. Except for some bugs on the windshield and the aroma of country cow air, the risk are low for an accident.

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 | Almost got pulled over tonight..... Warning long post- cliff notes at the end... Okay, so I was driving all around Seattle showing a friend the various nice view spots and nice neighborhoods since she is thinking about moving here. The whole time she was asking me if my car is fast with the big spoiler and all. She knows I am really into cars and the last time she came to visit and I took her for a ride in my Integra, she said she "got a little wet!" Is that okay to say? I'll mod it if it isn't???? Anyway, she's liking the heated seats, since she is from Cali and it's cold, and the leather, and basically just appreciating everything about my sti. She said it sounds mean and looks all "fast and furious" and kept egging me one since I told her that I like the sti more than the Integra and that's what we would drive around in. Anyway, around 10pm after driving for a couple hours and looking at houses for sale, and checking out the view from Alki looking back at the city, we decide to head back home. I was driving completely normally over in West Seattle. We saw about 6 Seattle police officers over there, so I was playing it safe. As we were heading towards the on-ramp of the west Seattle bridge to come back to Seattle, she asks me to gun it. So I give it a little throttle, and then let off. We were still on surface streets, and I didn't want to get in trouble with any cops... She said that's not bad.... As we are sitting at the light to turn left to head towards the on ramp, she asks how my filming was coming along... I couldn't remember telling her about any filming- just ideas for movies. She said, "Remember the getaway in Stockholm video you made me watch?" I remembered... I replied saying that I never had the chance to get enough camera's, people, and supplies to make one, but I could show her the course. The light turns green and I turn left. She says that would be fun! So we are going under the west Seattle freeway leading to the onramp, and she rolls down the window and asks me to punch it. We used to drive around with the windows down going through tunnels, under underpasses, next to walls, buildings, basically anything that would reflect the sounds of the engine and exhaust back to us so we could listen to the wonderful sound... I oblige and drop two gears since I was putting around in fourth, and floor it. We take off with the windows down listening to the amazing sound of the boxer engine. I shift and keep it floored, shift again, she screams over at me, "Fast speeds turn me on...." as she puts her hand on my thigh. Sorry, it's an inside joke for old people- if you get it, you get it and if you don't appreciate your youth.... I shift again and still have it floored, and we are coming up to the top of the high bridge of the East bound west Seattle freeway. I actually had a moment of sanity right then and there.... I thought briefly of how fast we were going and how we were about to crest a huge hill. Fortunately there was no traffic- but that didn't solve the dilemma in my head about us about to crest that hill going really fast. Too fast. So we caught a little air, or maybe it was just my stomach in my throat. She was really excited and I was a little scared. Relieved, but still scared. I don't mind taking corners, off ramps, straight-aways at the highest velocity while still maintaining control and keeping a little room for correction. I may be dumb, but I enjoy triple digit speeds in cars that were made for them. Flame suit is on- or you can just forget your chastising as this gets A LOT worse... If you are going to wish for Darwin, or for me to change my ways and that's all you are going to respond with- please don’t clutter my thread. I'm not going to listen; you are not going to change anything... Back to the driving.... She rolls up her window, and I roll mine up to- so much quieter! So I am slowing down with my foot off the accelerator, and she was saying how much fun it was and she wanted me to floor it again. I said let's wait till we get off the bridge, even though there was only one car ahead of me on the whole bridge. Then she responds with, "You might want to do it right now... There's a cop with his lights on that just the just came over the hill." I looked back and saw how far away he was, I didn't think, I just down shifted, and floored it again; there's no way he got a glimpse of my plates. He was too far away. If I got caught, I'd go to jail. So I signal and get over into the passing lane. I was also thinking that I trained her well! Too many road trips together, I guess. We are the type of drivers that will shift for one another or steer the car while she puts her makeup on. Good times! And no I don't ever need to have her steer while I put on makeup. Then the thought occurred to me that maybe the cop had an entirely different call or was heading down to Crispy Crème... But, I wasn't going to wait to find out! So we hit about 120 as we pass that one car, get it up to just under 140- which is kinda scary on that narrow bridge. I slow down to about 100 for the I-5 North onramp, fortunately there weren't any cars coming up from the road below. I take the corner, as I hit the apex, I floor it. The back end comes out just a little and I keep on it. I'm thinking there is no way that the cop would be able to catch me, in fact he was probably so far back that he couldn't tell if my car went straight and headed up to the neighborhood on top of the hill or took the I-5 N on ramp. I just chill at about 100 looking for cops as I merge with traffic. I didn't see anything that looks like an unmarked (my mind is thinking of all the cars I've heard used by police and state troopers), and fortunately there was very little traffic, so I figure it's safe to go faster. I speed up again. Then she asks, "Are we going to do the run?" I look at her as if she's crazy, just shake my head and smile... So we take the I-90 E on ramp. It's banked just right for taking at about 130 or so. Again no traffic. She says she wishes she had her video camera. I totally agreed, and we come around the corner leading into the tunnels. Damn! There was a whole bunch of traffic! Then she points and says, "Express lanes." I listen, and I signal like a good driver- just as I have been doing this whole time. We get into the tunnel and her window comes down as we are flooring through the tunnel. We are doing about 150 and I don't want a repeat of catching air again going way too fast, so I slow down to about 120 before the end of the tunnel. She asks, "Why are we slowing down? I can't tell her that I don't like the idea of taking a kinda steep transition going that fast, so I say, cops like to hide just on the other side of the tunnel. She looks over and sees about 120 on the needle. And just gives me that look... As we come out of the tunnel, there's no cop! So I get back into it again and---- Sheit!!!!!! There's that dark Chrysler sitting on the side of the road!!!! Sheit!!!! I am already doing about 140 again, and she screams go for it- I roll up the windows and keep it floored. She looks back and says he's coming! As we are entering the tunnel on the far side of the bridge, she starts laughing, and I am wondering if it's from glee, excitement, or out of futility. In my times of boredom I've calculated how long it would take a stationary cop to get up to my speed at different speeds and how long it would take for him to catch up distance wise if he was faster. I figured it would take him at least a quarter mile to get up to 100-110 all that while I would be travelling at 150 plus. If I could maintain my speed, then he would never catch me. I just can't screw anything up or run into traffic. So we are hauling azzs across Mercer Island on the express lanes, fortunately, there's no traffic. She's watching to see if he's coming within view- as I keep peeking at my rearview but am really focused on the road ahead. She says, that he must have had his traction control off, as it looked like he almost lost it when he launched it. I smiled but remained focused. I thought as we were nearing the end of the express lanes that I could exit the freeway down by factoria, go south, or go north. I am much more familiar with going north so I slow way down and we take the express lane elevated off ramp heading north. Something about this elevated ramp scares me... All the while, she's looking back. I floor it once we are back on the ground again. We can't see him, and then right when we get our last view of I-90 we see his lights. Sheit! I continue flooring it on the on ramp through fourth gear, shift to fifth as I merge with traffic. I get over all the way into the car pool lane as I come down into Bellevue. I know there are a lot of spots where cops hide with all the new onramps- and I am sure he radioed us in: White car with big spoiler going really fast. I think about slowing down to about 80 to blend in with traffic a little better, but I'm still too obvious to I am cruising on 405 N through Bellevue going about 130. As we are coming up to the last over pass with an onramp (I believe NE 8th) I see what looks like the top of a car with lights on top. Sheit! I sped up to 140 or so again, and look in my rearview mirror - there's no lights on it and I don't think it's a cop car. We are all clear until the 520 interchange hiding spot, I think... We cruise down 405, there's no stater waiting in the usual spot at the interchange. We start heading up the big long hill thinking it's all clear. Then we see him, just starting off the onramp from 520 east bound. Sheit... I am starting to have doubts.... I'm thinking to myself as long as I drive well, they can't catch me unless they do a road block. ****y, I know.... I look down at my gas gauge- as I think of running out of gas. Damn!!!! It's below a quarter full- I will need gas soon. I am thinking that I might be able to lose this cop going up the hill and take a Kirkland exit and stop to get gas at a station away from the main drag= bridal trails has a gas station that I could possibly sneak away to. I am pulling away from that cop- and my friend looks back as we crest the hill- giving us a really long look back and she says she can see two cars behind us with light a blazing. I'm still in the carpool lane thinking that I'll cut over to take the exit as soon as I crest the hill. I have to slow down to contend with traffic a little- then I see it! A stater sitting on the left hand side waiting for me lights on. He starts to pull out in front of me. He's trying to speed up, but I am going too fast. He taps his brakes as we get closer, then I see my gap to cut across the freeway to take the exit. As I cut over, he gets caught in traffic and can't cut. I make the exit divider at the last moment possible. Then I see another one that was hiding on the onramp. Shiet!!!! Oh God, I have to stay on the freeway. I don't take the 85th to Redmond exit that I was thinking of taking, but I plan to take the loop leading down to Kirkland. As I approach the loop, my friend screams out. I look back and see the other stater that I thought was stuck in the traffic driving over the median curbs and falling in behind the other stater. I'm thinking oh, shiet, oh shiet!!! I'm coming into this corner way too hot! As I brake really hard to get down to a manageable speed before the curve. As I take the entry curve of the loop, I see the first cop barreling at me I think he is going to try to ram me!!!!! I feel the grip in my tires still had more to give so I give it some more gas. The cop comes around way too hot and tries to take the curve, but he loses it and goes off road. I am almost done with the off ramp when I catch a glimpse of the second cop entering the off ramp. I check for traffic and floor it straight ahead getting back on the free way but going 405 South. I'm praying that the second cop loses it on this decreasing radius on ramp. I take the on ramp perfectly and punch it on the straight away portion of the onramp. I'm doing 100, 110, 120, and 140 before the end of the off ramp and again fortunately there's very little traffic. I signal to get over a lane. My friend says here he comes and I look back- he's way back there. I can lose him! I get up to 150 then 160 and I've got my pedal floored to the floor in sixth gear. I come on the 520 and 405 interchange quick, I can't even see the cop any more. Thank God! I slow for the 520 W on ramp. Take the corner and floor it again, as I look to my left to check for other cars merging onto the merge lane. All clear! I get on 520 and I'm doing about 130. We hop in the carpool lane- yes I know I was breaking the law by not having three occupants in the car and driving in the carpool lane.... The circumstances called for it. We take the car pool lane all the way to the bridge and cross the bridge. For the first time in this whole drive we are confronted with traffic. I start to signal my lane changes to weave around all the slow drivers. I'm thinking that by this time there are cops at every off ramp along I5 and I'll never get away... I get around the slow cars and see a huge gap. I floor it again. I decide to take the first exit as that would be the hardest one for the cops to get to in a short amount of time. We still can't see the one cop that was still following us. I'm thinking I am almost home free! We take the exit. No cops! I turn left to head through the arboretum. As I am driving I am only going a little over the speed limit. Then we see him coming from ahead of us, lights a blaze. I slow down like a normal driver would to give him space, he passes us. And I am thinking- we did it!!! Then he slams on his brakes and tries to turn around. For those that have driven down this road, this is not a road where you can just flip a biatch, it is at least a two or three point turn around. As soon as he hits his brakes, I start accelerating- not too fast incase he wasn't going to turn around- but then he does. Shiet!!!!! I drop down to second and floor it, I want to make it to this little turn off to head into the neighborhood where it leads to mountlake blvd/24th. I gain a lot of space between me and the cop, and my friend says she still can't see him. I take the right and go through this narrow streeted neighborhood faster than I should. I make it to 24th and the light is red. I consider running it, but there's traffic. I get ready to turn right in case I see the cop coming. The light turns green, and I go straight again into the next neighborhood. I am really familiar with this neighborhood and it leads me to my favorite road where there is never any traffic and almost guaranteed not to be any cops. We've vanished.... I pull my car into the garage and get ready to put my wingless trunk back on. I just hope they never got close enough to see my plates- they are pretty dirty. We turn off all the lights and lay low. Now it's just wait and see..... CN/ you are lazy! Drove fast, impressed girl, got chased, and got away... |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2008 | This is disgusting. For you to think that its funny to go 150 consistently all accross some of the busiest highways in the state/country while being chased by multiple state police just to impress some girl is childish/reckless/irresponsible. You put every single person you drove by in danger, you may know what you are doing when driving but I guarantee you half of the people in Wahsington don't know how to drive. At any moment those drivers could have changed lanes and everyone would have been killed. AND you are wasting all of the states money (my money) by having cops chase you (I think I counted 5 seperate officers in yoru story) all over the place. These officers have better things to do (I know the charger was there to just give tickets) than chase you and potentially be killed/injured just because you wanted a joyride. You were worried about posts cluttering your thread...well how about you don't clutter Seattle with reckless driving. |
