The GTO had 4 people in it VS me by myself. Im not sure what kinda power its got, my Dad did the motor work a few months before he died and I never got to ask him what internals he used. Its a beast though I couldnt even hear my car at all, its so loud with the headers and catless exhaust on it. sounds like a race car.

Stupid me. I was running a fuel economy program on my 07 STi because I got laid off from work and I am trying to save a buck where ever I can,when a late model Camaro SS (98-02 LS1 equipped) came up to a light with me on a deserted stretch of road. He had nothing special but some good exhaust and a few bolt ons. We went for it soon as the light went green. I launch at rather a conservative 4500 rpm and easily got him off the line. Somewhere between 2nd and 3rd gear he past me and I couldn't make up the 3-1/2 car lengths. We did a rolling start with even a worst outcome. (No comment) We talked a bit afterwards and went are separate ways.

Like I said. Stupid me for even trying to race with the car's fuel maps in econo mode. With race gas and the right program, yea I would have easily took him.
But that was not the case and now he gets to go home and brag and say how he beat an STi to his buddies. I am so pissed. I need a drink!

I know if my coach was around I would be running laps around the track as punishment.

There was this Camaro that I would always see on the road on my way to work. Teenager driver. The first and second time he tried showing off at a light, and attempting to pass me on the road - I showed him what STi's can do. After that, it just got ridiculous and obnoxious and let him act dumb by himself.


It's not always necessary to take the bait. You don't always have to prove you have a bad ***, beast of a car to everyone else. As long as in your mind you are content with the car.

Yes I agree. For the most part, I usually ignore a street contest. But it was a nice smooth deserted road with no cross traffic and my competitive nature got the best of me.

So you're trying to save money by driving around on an economy map but you're racing which 1. is extremely fuel inefficient and 2. could possibly leave you with a huge ticket, or worse.


Sounds like you're being real cautious.

You saying you're stupid you because of the lack of power in eco mode, so your disadvantage? Or because Cobb specifically states NOT to drive the car any sort of hard in that mode...(assuming you've got an ap, or something similar)...Not a safe move...

i find that the faster my car the less i take the bait. kind odd that way. but often times i just chuckle because that guy really has no business even trying to race me. rather save the gas for taking that offramp at 90mph.
