IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2008 | Haven't had anyone really try to test me, with the exception of a vw gti on the freeway one time. I was doing a steady 80 mph, and passed him doing about 70. Once he saw me he sped up and kept jumping on it and slowing down trying to get me to do something. I just looked at him and laughed. We then hit a lot of traffic and he couldn't keep up moving through the traffic (yes, I am one of those guys who weaves in and out...can't stand people doing 60 to 65 mph in the fast lane). On another note, around here they have this tuesday night thing where all these wanna be fast and the furious types get together. I hadn't heard much about it, so I showed up to see what it was all about and see if there were any other subarus around. I spent about 10 minutes walking around and then had to leave. It was all high school kids and college kids whose parents had bought them a bunch of fast cars. This one d-bag was running around challenging everyone to race and almost started a couple of fights (he was driving a civic by the way). The whole thing was straight out of a really bad street racer movie. I just laughed and left and haven't been back at all. |

| Professional STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | I was driving to a neighboring town once, and this guy out of no were blows by me doing 90 easily. I was like. "Oh hell naw". I mash the throttle in (This is in a 2003 Mazda Tribute ES-V6). I'm about 1/4 mile away. I get up to him (at this point I'm doing 135) I get into the other lane, and just BLOW by him. Bout 20 minutes later. He caught up with me in the Best Buy parking lot, and said "Damn dude your good". I walked a guy in a SRT-4 in my SUV xD. |

as for Audi... maybe you're not thinking back far enough. google--- Audi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia sure... WW2 making warmobiles (lots of companies did) post war... owned by Benz and VW "Audi 72. Developments of the model were named for their horsepower ratings and sold as the Audi 60, 75, 80, and Super 90. These models sold until 1972" (named after their HP output). "The new merged company was known as Audi NSU Auto Union AG, and saw the emergence of Audi as a separate brand for the first time since the pre-war era. Volkswagen introduced the Audi brand to the United States for the 1970 model year". (but still not as a performance car.) and "The Audi image at this time was a conservative one, and so, a proposal from chassis engineer Jörg Bensinger was accepted to develop the four-wheel drive technology in Volkswagen's Iltis military vehicle for an Audi performance car and rally racing car. The performance car, introduced in 1980, was named the " Audi Quattro," a turbocharged coupé which was also the first German large-scale production vehicle to feature permanent all-wheel drive through a center differential." so if you only trace back to 1980 for design and performance influences on cars marketed for non-track/race use, then i would agree. but by (at least) the 50's hot rodders were already chopping and modding their cars for more power and better handling. it was these "daily drivers" that eventually lead for more formal NHRA and stock car racing. while road racing traces its roots even farther back. i guess we're sort of saying the same thing. if you're only talking about awd dirt driving in "street sedans", then that narrows things down much more than i was doing. i was looking at "daily drivers" seeking power and performance that influenced cars (and racing) in general. I have been to a couple here in Colorado that were really good. That was when I had my Vette, there were MKIV Supras, Z06's, 300zx's, RX7's and of course EVO's and STI's. No one raced, we walked around and talked high end cars with other car lovers. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 | most recently, i had a charger R/T with big shiny chrome rims rev up next to me on a freeway onramp (2 lane light). i wanted to open up my ATP 3076 to see how it would do. all i can say is that he was able to admire my new taillight overlays. and for some stupid reason, tahoes and suburbans act like total a$$hats when i pull up next to them at a light |
