Ok, after reading this whole thread i would like to say this:

It does NOT matter where you live, there is always the chance of something bad happening to you or others period.

Second, I was in the Marines for six years and belive that If you are a responsable adult and properly trained in the use of firearms & have taken defensive shooting courses there is a good chance of you comming out of the situation alive & unharmed.

As for having a concealed carry permit, I have one and have not yet had to draw my gun, but it's comforting to know that it's there to keep myself & others safe. When not in use all guns are locked in a safe properly. It is my right to carry and I will.

As for taking away our right to carry & defend ourselves, I think that is just downright stupid because, the criminals will still get their illegal weapons & firearms, except now the good law abiding citizen are unable to put up a fight.. not such a great idea now that you think about it huh?
next step we are like England where people get mugged all day long, or like China a repressed society.

I have lived in many different contries and experienced many bad situations where i was mugged and could do nothing while i was beat down or taken from because of anti-gun laws.
I am pro guns.

sorry for the long rant..

my approach to getting pulled over has been the same since i have been driving.

1. Roll all my windows down b/c of tint.
2. Shut off car and place keys on the dashboard.
3. Be very polite especially with my "yes sir"
4. Hope not to be profiled because of the cars appearance.

There are almost 300 million people living in this country and naturally by the law of numbers the chance is there for something to happen like what happened to those poor amish folks up north albeit extremely rare. If you have the kind of mentality that carrying a concealed handgun would have helped those kids i think you would be wrong. What that implies is that the amish teachers should have been carrying handguns on their person during class. This is pretty absurd for obvious reasons. Secondly, i bet the guy who went into the school actually had a gun permit lol.
if i was in the school AND i was armed AND i had opportunity - i would have done my level best to save those kids and there's not a ccw member in here that wouldn't do the same. i'm just as capable without a gun (in close range) as i am with one. if i was unarmed AND he was armed AND i had the opportunity - i'd like to think would have done my level best to save those kids under those circumstances, too.

that was a horible event you witnessed and i'm sorry you were traumatized but i can't help but think it affected your thoughts about guns. if you love guns that much, it might help you to take a handgun safety course or basic self-defense class. you may be able to overcome some of the residual feelings of helplessness that are evident in your comments.

In my experience, Florida police officers are very friendly to law abiding citizens with concealed weapons licenses.
i am with your completely except for one thing - the wisdom of that particular rig or any rig that attaches to the seat that much in the open. i may be completely overthinking it but i'm going to let you find out instead of me. i have a hard enough time explaining the roll cage (isfh)

From what I have read so far even from alot of the concealed permit owners AND from my own experiences is that the possibility is so remote that you would ever encounter a situation where you would "need" a handgun. Consequently, my reasoning is that its better to not invite trouble by owning a dangerous weapon, be it swapping fire in an irresponsible manner or getting drunk and using it on your family or even allowing the possibility that a youngster could get to it when the car was left running and the door was ajar.

I certianly don't believe in outlawing guns and i believe in our constitution. Its my humble opinion that one should not carry it on their person all the time and further we need to come together as a society and quit being paranoid. The real fight is getting the dang media to stop the hype, instead we watch what happens on tv and make error by reaffirming our paranoid endeavours.

I promise this is the my last word on the subject and i will note responses.

The possibility of a plane being hijacked is 1 in a million, yet we place armed men with guns on most flights.

Your argument doesn't hold any water.

Wow... WTF do people think they are going to acheive by trying to tell a bunch of 2nd amendment advocates that they are silly for exercising their right to carry a weapon?

Back on topic. Is this thing available in a southpaw version? Good write up.
