welcome to the real world my friend
you'll notice that not everybody is nice and polite, or does the right thing.

when i moved to the US, and got my work permit and greencard, i started applying for jobs like crazy, the return rate (to my emails) was about 10%
and half of those were automated responses.

have you tried talking to a recruiter, it's their job to find people jobs.

jph pretty much has it on the money.

Most people aren't polite and don't do the right thing and gave you some ridicules salary and squeeze everything out of you in return.

I applied at Sunnyvale Toyota, Subaru of Fremont, receptionist for a Chiropractor office, Milpitas Shooting Range owner Assistant.

Although I did qualify to take the written exam for the 911 Dispatcher job, I hope I do good and get that job...

not trying to sound like an ass or anything but... what experience do you have ? or what skills do you bring to the table?

do you have any kind of job that you're looking for? it sounds like you're just shooting in random directions, hoping to hit something.

I don't have too much experience...

I'm only applying to jobs that I qualify for in the experience and requirements listed by them...

How the hell do I gain experience if I can't even get a lowly job in which I can make at least $2000 a month after taxes...

Cuz I need to make more to buy a STi on my 21st b-day and after I get my STi I plan on moving out, I need to make $2000 minimum after taxes to do that...
Gawd!!! I'm fustrated.

don't take this the wrong way, i do not know you personally, so i'm just going to make a few assumptions

maybe you're aiming too high ?

what's your education like ? what are your qualifications (hey, you never know someone here reads this and is looking for someone like you)

pretend to be the hiring manager for the company you're applying from; would you hire yourself with the information that you've given them ? and pay you the amount that you're asking for ? can he find someone else that can do the same job for less ?

then again... the opposite can be true too.
i've given thumbs up to people that had a nice resume, and did pretty good when i interviewed them. only to be pretty disappointed with them when they started working. they were good actors though.

ps: if you're planning to move out and live by yourself in california AND buy an sti, $2000 a month is NOT going to get you there.

have you tried to come up with some numbers of things that you'll be paying every month ?

STi + Insurance + Gas = $800
Rent = $500
Food = $300
Other = $200

It can't possibly this hard to find a job that makes at least $2000 after taxes.
I'm aiming for $3000, but settle for $2000. Ad you can see, $2000 is not aiming high at all.

If I do good on the exam and go thru all the processes and make the 911 Dispatcher job, thats $65k a year baby.

Dude not to sound like a jack ass, but I make 45k a year and barely take home 2k/month after takes + 401k + health insuance, etc. I'm not saying thats a lot of money but I chose the occupation I have. This means you should be looking at making $20-25/hour. And I'll tell you this, life is not as easy as breaking things into your budget above. I also don't drive an STi because I couldn't afford it.

I pay about $350/month to my car for payment + insurance (not including gas, which is probably 150-200/month and I have a short commute) and after things like utilities, rent, food, renter's insuuance, etc. I bearly have anything left to put into the bank. So I would seriously, look for a job that is comfortable, and that you like. move out, establish yourself and your actual cost of living and then see if you can afford your car. Additionally I only financed 10K on my car, I'm guessing you're planning on financing a lot more than that.

Not trying to be a d!ck or anything, just trying to be straight up with you. You'll have other prioroties 5 years down the line. So be careful with what you do now.

Agree 100%.

Even in my case, once I got the fast car I really wanted (the STi) I found out life goes on and there are other more important priorities to think about, like buying a house and getting established.

Also, not to be a d!ck either, but it sounds like you didn't have alot of jobs yet. Financing a car with that much money requires some really good credit record, and in my opinion, at least 1 year on the job to show stability.

It's not as easy going into a dealership and financing a car. You financing a car is a calculated risk for the dealership, believe I tried to finance cars at your age, it didn't work.

If you're on the route of becomming a Police Dispatch, I'd wait until you make it. Then see if you like it and going to stick with it, get some seniority, build your credit and then go buy a brand new STi.

Don't get caught in the bandwagon of making quick financial decisions. Alot of people make that mistake and end up in debt or get rid of the car after a year when they findout they can't afford to keep it. Not worth it.

Also start thinking of putting money aside for a place because the entire generation from teenhood to my age (27) can not afford a nice house in California, unless you are going to live in the boonies somewhere, it's a fact of life, I know you're young and probably not thinking about it right now, but I would....because you'll have to deal with it sooner than later.

If you want to talk about this, just give me a call. I have been in your shoes...

That would work, but you'll live paycheck to paycheck.

TRUST ME, you don't want to live with roomates the rest of your life.....

Peleg is a wise man. The house should be your priority. The sooner you can get into a house in this state, the better off you'll be down the road. You may sacrifice an STI now, but 25 years down the road, you may be driving a Lambo or something.

Although unless you're getting help from somewhere it is damn near impossible to save the kind of scratch needed for a down payment in California (at least the bay area).

A WRX may be a better choice for you. It's a good bit o' fun. And There was a video I saw not too long ago of a 06 Stage 2 WRX walking an 04 stage 1 STi. If you want, I'm more than willing to take you for a ride in my car. It's not ridiculous, but it's no slouch either.
