If I didn't drive so much, I would have a recaro spg xl in my driver's seat.

edit: I saw your seat clean up thread. That looked like a lot of work, but your end result looks great. What kind of comments do you get? Do people think it is oem?

i think i am gonna do a bit of research on the navi. i think the z3 is where i am gonna go but i wanna see one in person 1st. i am thinking about suspension (sways and endlinks) and finally, i need to sit in some recaros to make sure i like them. why the hell would i need to spend $40K+ on a car when i can take the parts i like and put them into mine?

i guess one drawback to the recaros is that you lose the side airbags, right?

on the running front. i think i am changing my routine. one day 5 miles, one day 1.2 miles at a faster pace. i had the 1.2 mile day today. according to this handy dandy conversion site Minutes Per Mile my pace was 8:53.33333333333337 per mile.

on an unrelated note, the nice cool morning air made my slow '08 feel a little better
especially when that big F350 decided to take his right turn on red, while i just got my green light (left turn) to take the 85 onramp!

People usually appreciate all the work that went into it, but they totally get blown away when they sit in them.

I was gonna read reviews about a kenwood but am gonna cheap out, and just use my data plan on my blackberry to get directions. I realize I lose some convenience, but there is just too much I can spend that extra grand on.

i used it last sunday to find my way to the freeway from some random spot in downtown SF.

it works, but it has no bling factor

now that i think of it... you may be able to find '08 sti owners that sell their "optional" nav unit.

you know... for those guys or gals who want the BBS, but don't care for the OEM nav unit and want to ditch it.

i do have a blackberry, i use it from time to time (googlemaps for the gps type program). i am probably going to get some form of navi, leaning towards the z3 if i can get that price. i need to clear up some $$ first though and decide whether i want bling or suspension.... tough choice.

that's a decent idea. how's the 08 navi? touchscreen, play dvd's? hold mp3's? bluetooth connectivity? sat. radio?

on a completely unrelated note, most of you know that i have 2 bengalis. some ppl say animals act differently at times and that indicates something. i definitely hope that is not the case. for the past 2 nights, my girlie bengali (who typically is the quiet one) has been at non-stop chatter at night and running around like a silly girlie. hopefully the most it indicates is a change in the weather (low pressure moving in or something like that). fwiw, she's been going on for the past hour with the boy joining in at times. maybe i should worry if they both start acting weird.

and finally, a random video from youtube. file this under the wtf category. YouTube - Stupid driver

Casa De Grambo is cancelled. Too many people are busy. We'll try again later I guess.

I have the Pioneer AVH-P7500DVD with the AVIC-80 GPS Add on. It was one of the original in car DVD units released back in '03 or so. I had it in my silverado before moving it into the STI, and I really like it. Because it is so old, the iPod interface isn't great, but I'm sure pioneer has much improved that in the time that has passed. I think the z3 has a hard drive though, so you may not even need the ipod interface. One sweet thing, now that cali has the handsfree law, is that it has an optional bluetooth add on.

You might look into alpine as well, I'm really happy with my alpine head unit in my truck!

Carmi has a kenwood GPS in his car IIRC.

thanks for the details on the navi. i think i need to go to a place this week/weekend (whenever i can) and look at options. i wonder if fry's would be a good place to look. maybe best buy... or look up some random car audio place in the city....

i really wish this fog would burn off, i am tired enough as it is.

Meh. No worries. It just happens that there is a Hellaflush Event in Burlingame that same day, plus NHRA Drags at Infineon. And another weksos meet in San Jose on Sunday. Plus I have Cub Scouts the evening before and only one free evening this week to clean up the house. Too many cars attending other events.
I may go to Hellaflush and meet a few guys like 13oneSTi and SeventySTi and dlouie87. I am going that route with the car so some face-to-face time with their cars would be enlightening to say the least.
My wife is pushing to go to Infineon too. That would be un-Godly expensive though...
We'll see I guess.
