what other requirements besides handle wet roads?

the RE070 were good in the wet when they were not worn more than 50%
after that, they got a little nervous when dashing through puddles at speeds above 50mph

better handling in the dry without sacrificing wet abilities. also able to legally be on the road with them... that is about it. heard good things about the re01r's so i think that would be my first choice. unless you guys could come up with something better. oh yeah, something able to fit on the stock wheels.

Look up Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs, supposedly great compared to the RE01R and cheaper to boot.

EDIT: whoops you mentioned it earlier already

ok. here's the new setup. took longer to install than expected (go figure everything does). it is a tad dark due to it being dark outside. i think it works well. i will have to reserve judgment this weekend when i can go out and chase cam during the daytime.

anyway.. YouTube - Chase Cam - Night Test

a nice 46 sec vid. a short part is going 1-3 uphill in a nice and quiet location. i let it run to 46 seconds on the edit b/c i hate cutting things off. from what i have read 3rd tops out at roughly 73-74 mph, so i guess i was somewhere close to that...

thoughts/ideas/suggestions/comments?

EDIT: whoops you mentioned it earlier already
didn't dunlop change the compound for the direzza a while ago? making it less sticky?

that being said, i have no experience with this particular tire myself.

the RE01R are supposed to be GREAT in the wet though.
there's a video floating around on the net of a miata on re01R's blasting a few laps around a compleately soaked autox track, and the two guys in the car are just screaming and laughing like little girls because of how much grip they had with these tires.

so here's my $0.03

all out; RE01R
street; PS2

i honestly don't like the tread design on all other "track" tires. they just don't look like they would save your ass when going too fast though that deep puddle on the freeway that you just didn't see until it was too late.
