or you can hook up a laptop, and datalog just a tiny bit... rpm/speed should be enough to keep track of how long it takes to get up to 60

there, three ways of doing it.

four if your coworker can operate a stop-watch while you launch it

A guy on here, 13rus, went out and pulled a 4.2 with a Stage 2 car he said. I know for a fact that my car is a sub-4.5 car. How accurate is your G-Tech? I think this will be like taking candy from a baby.

not sure, i never used this feature. only use it for lateral G's which seems to be pretty accurate. i have never gone flat out on the 0-60 with the sti (scared of breaking something i guess)

i believe some of the "popular" magazines also use the Gtech for their test numbers. but i can be wrong and may be just buying into all the marketing speak

Hey...actually, you are right this time. I have yet to launch my car with this new clutch.

But trust me, for $500-$1000 I will practice beforehand.
One of my coworkers that I gave a ride to wants to put down as much as he has. Haha.

IMHO the ap and the gtech aren't as accurate as having your datalogger on. Just measure time and speed and you can be extremely accurate. I am sure with your mods you are definitely below 5s. Launch is key! I am sure carmi can hook you up with some tips lool.

i remember reading on cobb's forums how ppl were seeing high 0-60 times. iirc, the ap timer will start on wheel movement, even the slightest and it was throwing off times... i dont know if i am talking stupid or what.. i am extremely tired.. may have to resort to drinking some bawls in the blue bottle soon...

yah, i have some good tips to keep from breaking an axle and hit 1.7sixty's i think my friends that run awesome times rev it up to 7k and drop it...no joke

to defeat my shift knock(and the shift knock sensor iirc that causes the bogs between shifts) shift fast and smooth(same as you would do on a sunday morning on your first pull when she's warmed up) shifting quick and smooth will get the lowest e.t. in the STi's, that is my opinion on the dragging our cars.

1st gear, rev to 5k and blip throttle, wait until you are on a advancing rpm while blipping in and out of throttle and use your tippy toes(many good drivers do this, not just a funny joke to laugh at me at ) vs when rpm is falling and you hit the gas..that just spins tire bad and i just don't hit good sixty's like that.

Shift when you hear tire spin

2nd hold till redline

3rd hold till 6800

4th till 6400-6500

5th pedal to the metal!

this is for stage 2 STi's 04-06

to show and example...last time i was at the track(which was a horrible day for me racing, i was hoping to hit a 12.5X on pump) I hit a 13.0 flat and missed two shifts...how did i do this?(i should have run in the 14's with missing shifs) because i never had a shift knock, so shift nice and easy and early...we have torquey car's, there is just no power up high...we make awesome torque, but the graphs just die in high rpm SHIFT EARLY!

we all have this shift knock issue imo, that is why you don't see subi's running great times compared to evo's and other car's of same awd whp

sean(downsti) ran his record shifting really lightly to avoid shifting issue...kinda funny how on that run he ran a 11.7 While i was having almost the same power, shifting extremely hard and getting nowhere fast, needless to say..i learned a thing or two about how our cars run from my last time out(not the first ten or so in 1 wrx and 1 STi )

/rant, i hope this helps people that care(alex had been drag racing for a while too)

I know. I can pull 1.7's all day but I'm not like Earl and his consistent 1.6's. I do the feather thing up at about 7k and then slip fast as ****.

7k? when I would launch at 6k I would literally sit there and spin my tires (when I was stage 2). I guess the track wasn't prepped, or something. i have been trying launching at lower rpms, like 4k and feel like I get moving much quicker.

Dude. I launch at like 500-800 and it is sick. I mean, the clutch feels brand new and there is no violent driveline lash. It is awesome.

to be honest, i'm alright with it.

Probably won't part out, but if I do you guys got dibs obviously

I'm having so much anxiety about giving up my car......making me feel alllllllllll kinds of crappy

I'll be back in a subi, I pray sooner than later...I got a few days left with the car before I put her up for sale, I wonder what I should price it as...pm me guy's with your ideas

I heart the norcal chat thread, man I wish i could STill roll with you great bunch of guys.

Ok plan's for the new car, get a gc8...find a wrecked 05 STi....begin! That might have to wait too oh man, damn

I could keep the car, but getting a job and taking less class to pay for my STi is just retarded....i mean, i'm an idiot; but not THAT big of an idiot...right guys? hello guys? herro?

i rarely drive the car anymore anyway...planning on just riding the motorcycle. I'm going to try and knock out 18 credits this summer (9 in each summer section, there is 2 sections). I'm going to take them at a JC instead of Sac State to save money

DAMN THIS ECONOMY AND HIGH GAS PRICES

/rant

honestly though, i've been looking at a bunch of gc8's with STi swaps and i'm more jealous of them than i am with my car...i love the look of the late gc8's and they are lighter and 2 door and if one day I could get one to handle/accelerate like my STi, I would love it even more i think....plus i want to learn more about wrenching, and that's a great way to do it
I read this while listening to Avenged sevenfold, Seize the Day. It was very appropriate
