This wheel acid you speak of does it hurt the wheels? The stock BBS's I mean?

i once had a bottle of p21s, and i liked it.

when it was almost empty, i decided to look for something that was available at a local store, and cheaper.

tried both of them on half side of the same *VERY* dirty stock bbs pads polluted bbs wheel.

the meguiar's side *almost* didn't need any work after rinsing it off.
the p21s side needed some more work using either a brush or a rag to get everything off.

meguiar's also foams a little bit, so it stays on the wheel longer without running off.

i tried them both, and decided that p21s is overrated and way too expensive

i also tried another one... a grey bottle, i believe it was "armor all" or something like that. it was pretty nasty, and seemed to eat a fine rubber layer of the tire. so i decided this one was too agressive for my tastes

next time you're at wallmart/autozone/pepboys/etc... pick up one of those purple meguirs wheel cleaners, they are cheap. try it out. you will not be disappointed.

I agree with J. its about 6 or 7 dollars a bottle and it works really well. Spray it on and let it sit for 30 seconds and spray it off, wipe where its really heavy and it comes right off. There are some spots i think i need to claybar though =T

well i only used it when i was detailing at the dealership and they ordered it, i think through zep products(which is what i use, but they all do the same thing essentially)

you can probably find wheel acid for cheap at most car supply stores, just call ahead...

buy a spray bottle, mix acid 50/50 with water...spray on wheels, let soak for a couple minutes if that....your brake dust should come right off without touching the wheel. The reason that wheel acid will work better than these other wheel cleaners is that it is obviously highly concentrated and quite dangerous to work with

(you can spray the bottole into the wind and have acid on your face and end up like the joker)

anyway, yah bottom line...wheel acid of any brand(come in a gallon or more) is cheap, and works the best handsdown, it is the strongest wheel cleaner i have ever used. It will clean the inside of your wheel, it will also eat right through your finish if you leave it on to long(i have before on other cars and it didn't do anything, but i was told it can and will destroy wheels if you forget to take it off.

some of us don't need to use this at all, like me....i just wash my car enough that my wheels never get dirty and when they do i just go around with a piece of paper towel and wipe them down...since the dirt isn't caked on, it comes off with just a wipe....thats my technique

any wheel cleaner you guys use, just let it soak for a few minutes...then you will actually see results...don't get the wheels wet first, spray on your cleaner and then start going around with your hand and the hose and start cleaning your side skirt or your dirty spots behind your front wheel and behind the rear wheel
