IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | you do realize that there was a bailout before? The idea is for the government to relieve these companies of the bad debt, let the market regain strength ie bad debt turning into a positive return and then the government selling back to the market the original assets at a higher price for a possible return???? Please tell me you know that. Do I advocate the move, no, BUT in light of what would be the other option if we let these large companies fail and single handedly move the country into a recession....no thanks |

That alone shows that the market is at prime buying right now. Warren is known as "SMART MONEY" so people, follow suite like the sheep we are!!!! |

| Amateur STI Driver | The recession was well underway before these firms stated to fail. And it doesn’t take an economics degree to understand we are all going to experience greater inflation (i.e. from increased dollar circulation). Let me spell it out for you: Everything will cost more. The 700 billion (likely 1.4 trillion) isn’t coming from increased taxes or appropriation cuts, it coming from the printing press (FED credit). Let the firms fail. I would rather deal with the unpleasant outcome from that then go further down the debt hole. This country is rapidly losing its way as a constitutional republic with a Free Market. Price fixing, artificial market controls (like banning short sales) nationalizing debit and privatizing profit is a one-way ticket to destroying our currency. If the free market says the house ‘x’ is only really worth ‘y’, how can the government change that? If this is economics 101, what is the country’s GDP? And its total debt? Plus two known wars, numbers of other unknown wars and growing legacy costs. So our debt to income ratio is? Would you extend credit to someone with that ratio? No. |

We are all going to die! But seriously, I had finance today, just like KiR Diesel, and my finance professor, who is fairly knowledgeable and involved in economics, and he supports the bailout plan, so I'm siding with him. |

| Spec C Club | I heard some thing that with all the proposed bailout money, they could give most of the forecloser's 200k and they could save their house and pay it back to the banks at the same time......... |

| Platinum Member | While I think it is terrible to consider bailing out the corporations that squandered away the money, I also consider the people who would lose their houses, investments, and insurances in this ordeal if something doesn't happen. I believe that in the grand scheme of things, with enough conditions, the bailout is necessary. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
