Default Trailblazer SS - opinions?

Anyone here have a Trailblazer SS? I'm seriously considering getting one (not selling the STi, so don't fret). If anyone here even has strong opinions of it, one way or the other, please post here and explain your reasoning.

Thanks.

Planning to tow a gas station along with it??

I looked at these a while ago. I think it is a pretty cool SUV. The modding potential is there but obviously it will never hande like a vette . I know some people who have them and really haven't heard them complain about any problems with it as far as reliability goes. I am sure there are some who have had their problems though. If I was stuck with driving an SUV around for the family I would not be ashamed to have it as the family hauler. However if I lived in a nicer climate I think I would just go for an actual vette and a beater SUV.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Here's some background: my '01 Excursion is getting pretty old (101,000 miles) and is just too impractical for what I need. It gets 9.9 miles per gallon, which makes the TB SS 15 mpg look like heaven

I would consider the Jeep SRT8, but need an SUV that can tow large loads and fit a lot of cargo.

Excuse the rambling - I'm trying to get all of my thoughts out there

IMO Not nearly as sophisticated looking as the Jeep SRT-8.

But MUCH less expensive.

I think the TBSS is a pretty sweet platform reallly. No joke there was a guy who had a supercharger on an AWD version running DEEP in the 7's in the 1/8 mile. I would take a hard look at one if I were SUV shopping.

I think the Jeep SRT8 is pure sex. I like Chevy a lot but if I had to choose between the 2 it would be the SRT8. If the SRT8 isn't an option I think the SS is pretty damn cool.

My brother traded in his wifes 05sti for a trailblazer SS about a year ago because they have 3 kids now. He still has his 05sti to.

My buddy used to have an 06 SS and he traded it in on his 07' STi. He had a few issues with his.

The front vailance would shake making the foglights bounce (we fixed that)
Day two he owned it the headliner around the sunroof fell down
The tranny would slip shifts on warm days.

Gas milage was a big factor since the thing was a DD for him. I think he averaged around 12mpg and on a really long trip he saw 16mpg a couple of times.

Friend of mine owned one too. Nice power nothing crazy, nice interior, good sound. Averaged 11-12 mpg and resale was terrible.

Guy I know got one and is very happy with it. He's a real stickler for vehicles, so I was surprised it met with his approval.

My coworker has an 07. Mods include a K&N drop in replacement (apparently the intake kit made the truck throw a CEL), a resonator delete, and Superchips tuner. It gave another coworkers LS1 Camaro a run for it's money. He ran it at the track, IIRC he ran a low 14.
As for MPG I wouldn't count on 15, he says he's usually around 12-13.

It's a nice looking truck from the outside, but personally I can't stand the blandness of GM's interiors...even the Vette.
He's had no issues other then the muffler packing blowing out about a week into ownership.

Vette = "Worst interior ever." Sorry for the OT but I had to put it.
