Interesting /Legal?

I saw something Interesting a few days ago. I am not sure if was legal to use the STI logo for a non-Subaru company. (Obviously it must have been if its on this semi) but have you guys seen this??

Yeah I saw it on the side of the road so I had to stop to look at it. I thought it was some Subaru top secret/testing car/equipment

Theres also a prepaid phone that uses the sti logo.

it is not a trademark infringement. in fact, the trucking company could have asked the trademark office for that trademark. subaru is then given an opportunity to comment and/or protest the issuance of the trademark and probably would, given their treatment of kevin several years back for the name of the site prior to iwsti.

in my opinion, the trademark office would most likely issue the trademark to the trucking company because the trademark is being used in two completely different and unrelated markets.

hell for all we know, the trucking company had it first, subaru applied and they got the notice for comment.

The letters STI are just an acronym so any company can use that.

The truck with the blatantly obvious STI logo that matches Subaru's is a problem.

the mobile phone thing is fine, i have seen that.
using subaru's logo is a nono, didn't kevin or ben get crap for the old iwsti store using the "sti" logo on the merchandise?

yes, but that is because kevin was directly diluting subaru's trademark as it relates to the sti (the car) and subaru's right to the trademark for all their merchandising. again, every trademark is fair game when it is used in an completely unrelated market.
