Default Fun in the sand at Pismo dunes

So I decided to take a quick road trip to San Luis Obispo with a few buddies (Matt "STiLLWILL", and Tom) to drop off some stuff at their parents house. Of course I volunteered to use the 6.7 to haul their stuff. So wednesday we had all the free time we wanted so we headed out to Pismo Beach. As some of you might know it has some beautiful dunes. A lot of people camping, ATV'ing, Dirt Biking, etc, etc. We get to the front gate and we air down my BFG A/T's to 15psi in the front and 10psi in the back. Off we go down the beach headed towards the entrance to the dunes. We finally hit the entrance and we head off into the dunes. This is my first time in the sand with my truck mind you. We spent a good hour on the sand just mashing around and climbing some hills. Very fun time all in all.

We head back down the beach and we spot a Chevy 3500 crew cab dually gasser and a VW Euro Van (yeah wtf?) both with trailers stuck in the soft stuff. We roll up and ask if they need a tow. They said yeah and hooked a strap up to my truck. Pulled both of them out no problem. :lol3:

As I pulled the Eurovan up to their spot the guy with the 3500 managed bury his truck frame deep in sand. We all laughed cause he obviously didnt learn his lesson or didn't even mind to air down his tires. So once I was done with the van we took our first attempt to yank the 3500 out. First pull he jumps on the gas while I'm pulling and digs himself even deeper! (idiot) At that point I said, "OK, lets try pulling you out from the back." We hook up the rinky dink 3000lbs strap again and boom I snapped it, clean break! At that point we all thought he was stuck for good, probably a tractor was needed. He asked for one last try from us and comes back with a monster 10k strap that he borrowed. We hook up that strap and I give the strap a foot or so of slack and stab the go pedal. Once the strap tightened up I felt a good jolt inside the cab, I look back and that duallie flew right up out of sand and I pulled him a good 50ft away. I was pumped!! :woot:

Not to mention I had to tow his other friends Chevy gasser out a few times, but he wasn't nearly as buried as the 3500.

They scraped up what cash they had a gave it to me. I was stoked I pulled that 1 ton out. We almost wanted to give up, but it was def worth the second try. :thumbsup

The first round of towing the dually:

btw man, I rode in my friends EFI Live tuned LMM and that thing is a fuggin beast. Trucks shouldn't be allowed to go that fast. As of right now it does low 13's on stock rubber. He has DR's sitting in the garage.

hey adam, I love pismo. My friends and I would go every summer with atvs. I saw a dune buggy with a s2k motor ripping around, and a hummer, but never any trucks lol. It looks like a great time!

That is a great looking truck. I've always wanted to get a dodge ram 1500 and pretty much go the route you did with your 2500, however I've always been torn between the 5.7L hemi or the 5.9L diesel and the main and definitely more pressing issue of not enough for ram and sti. Before I forget to ask... mod list, please.
