I totally agree that a lot of kids out there have a total LACK of respect for their elders.

I caused a lot of **** when I was young and had a lot of fun, but the one thing I never lost was the repect my parents taught me. I never talked back, or was a dick if I was caught doing something wrong.

The problem as some have already stated, is that parents are almost afraid to disipline their kids these days. Someone sees a parent trying to disipline their kid and "think" they have gone too far... well that can be trouble for the parent just trying to keep his kid in line...

I agree that kids these days get away with WAY too much, only because everyone is scared about what they can and can't due. I think it stems a bit from they "my Human Rights" types...

My parents never hit me (but I got spanked a couple times) and I was never grounded. Anytime I got cought doing something wrong, I had to bust my balls doing work. Yard work, paining, weeding... you name it.

I think I turned out pretty good so far, but I agree that when I'm talking to a younger person, there is definitly a differnet attitude towards me than what I would be doing if I was that age...

My dad was in the service for quite a few years...I'm sure they heard words or phrases that they'll remember forever. He's someone I never dared to cross intentionally

I agree that there are plenty of asshole kids out there I don't think it's a generational thing. Kids that age have been being asshats since the dawn of time, maybe you weren't when you were that age, and maybe you didn't know any when you were that age, but they were around. The idea that kids are just getting worse and worse is a fallacy.

I HATE WHEN KIDS DO THAT. I have been playing golf since i was 7 years old, thats 16 years and i have seen this situation happen countless times. I hate kids that think they are the ****. Honestly i don't put up with that **** on the golf course. My dad is a superintendant and i see how much hard work he puts into his course and see **** like this really frustrates me. Golf is a game of respect.. you don't go on the course to **** around, that is what the driving range is there for. sorry my .02

My dad kicked my @ss and I'm a better person for it. Sounds like I got the same treatment as some of the other people on here. My mom on the other hand could hit me and it wouldn't do anything except make me laugh and make her even more pissed off.

Kids, especially in the 14-18 range have gotten serious attitude problems in the past few years, I have no clue what it is. It's usually some loud mouth punk who is probably somewhat "cool" in high school, and has to show off to his buds.

All I'm saying is that if a 14 year old messed with me like that, I don't care if I am 21. The law should be if you **** with someone, no matter the age, prepare to get your ass kicked.

Oddly enough I have been playing golf about as long as you.(since I was 9 and I'm 23) I have never had this happen. My reasoning is because the course I play usually don't allow a group of teens to just go out and play. I also don't think a group of bad teen golfers would want to play any of the course I play IE: Castle Pines, Bear Dance, Arrowhead, etc...

I miss them too. But I am not afraid to punish my kid. Unlike some parents. My boy will NOT grow up to be one of these douchebags that my wife teaches.

I've had this exact same conversation with all of the people I work with. I'm 23 and everyone I work with is in their 40s and 50s. They talk about being punished and getting the belt when they were a kid, and I did too! I learned to have a fearful respect for my parents and knew if what I was doing was bad enough I was gonna get smacked.

I don't know about you guys but I always got the countdown when I did something wrong. My mom would start at 3... 2... long pause... 1. If I ever heard the number 1 her hand was already coming at me. The lower the number got the faster your heart pounded and you would always wait for the pause between 2 and 1 then run away! HAHA

But yea there is a line between disciplining your kids and just beating the crap out of them. I for one had a very happy childhood but I'm my father's son and he knows it. I was always trying to push the boundaries or just doing something plain stupid but I think I turned out pretty good!

I have no problem hunting down little bastards like this and embarassing the hell out of them wherever they are.
When my wife first started teaching, she had twp 13-14 years olds hold their hands like "guns" and silently go "pow" with their faces-right in her face.
I drove straight into the ghetto/barrio to find one of them and let him have it right on his own front porch. When papa vato came out to see what was up, I told him what happened and he beat the living ish outta' that kid from what I could hear from the street as I left.
I caught the other kid playing baseball at a park near the school and layed into him pretty well. Some lady at the park offered to call the cops for him and I suggested she did so as this little POS had threatened my wife's life. Needless to say she didn't call.
Now the two kids are VERY respectful to their teacher and her husband. They have both turned out to be nice kids. Both are excelling in class too. Just listened to a bit too much gangsta-rap and didn't realize I grew up in their neighborhood and wasn't afraid of jail tats and bandanas.
