alright guys, while at work, i heard two coworkers discussing the end of the world in 2012..

i didnt join in the convo, just kept to myself..

i honestly dont think itll happen..
and later that day a radio station was talking about it as well...

i dont know, i think its a bunch of BS... but oh well..

opinions guys and gals???

oh, and i searched for a thread like this but couldnt find anything besides talking about evolution or what ever, but if there a is a thread like this, then my fault...

Some guy I used to work with back before y2k belonged to some religious group that thought the world was going to end in 2000. So he quit his job towards the end of 1999. Idiot.

Various groups/cults have been predicting the end of the world for i don't even know how long. Just in the '90s there were some pretty famous Armageddon groups that claimed it was going to happen in 1994 (big religious group based out of Philly), 1998 (i recall this because a famous Argentinian soccer player quit the game to prepare for judgment day) and naturally 2000, 2001... I mean when nothing happens they just push the date back a little further thats all.

Scientifically, I think there is also relation to sunspot activity, and that it will peak in 2012, which have the potential to release large magnetic storms which will screw with earth. One of the theories was that the sunspot activity would be so great it reverses the magnetic poles of earth, basically north becomes south, and vice versa, causing extreme climate change and global flooding/ice ages.

edit, the whole polar shifting would be due to the fact our solar system is supposed to cross through the middle of our galaxy in 2012. The magnetic force within the center is enough to polar-shift our earth.

I don't adhere to all the religious nuts, but I do believe in science.. but I think something will happen, whether its the end of mankind or not, we'll see

in reference to the whole polar shift thing cause we're moving through the center of our galaxy, I have a hard time believing that we wouldn't already be feeling the early effects of such a cosmic event. Something like that which only happens once in a few billions years would be like one of us having a brain tumor completely grow and kill us all in like a nano-second. But I'm no astro-physicist/cosmologist or whatever they're called so who knows.

they all watched Bible Codes on Geographic Channel. I watched it too. They decoded that the twin towers would get hit by two planes. they said a asteroid would hit the earth on 2012 but we could have a something to destroy it.
