Default drive home on the longest day

Thought I would take a few pics on the drive home on the shortest night of the year.

Beside my parking lot, my work is creating some shade..

the sun is right behind these buildings, watch what happens when there is no cover

BRIGHT LIGHT!!

a few blocks later, downtown Yellowknife

the sun will barely pass the horizon and then pop back up around 3:30am

Great Slave Lake, just down the road

damn, someone is selling his scooter, tempting....

and I want this ballin' van, no lie

light blue mortgage is mine

Doesn't get any darker than that for the next few weeks, glad I can sleep with the lights on

It's certainly not for everyone, especially when it's the shortest DAY of the year.

I just wish the weather was always nice when the sun is out,
it's raining this morning

I'm from the South, and I have a hard enough time accepting that the sun sets at 9:45pm in the middle of summer here (Michigan). That's just wrong.

Yellowknife is worth the visit, but if you plan to drive, this is the road for about 8 hrs from the Alberta border

try not to drive past 180, frost heaves and buffalo will mess you up

This is awesome. For some weird reason i have always been really fascinated with northern places. Yellowknife looks like a really cool place to visit, especially after watching the first season of Ice Road Truckers. Are you in a mining/supplies transportation related industry?

Oh and MORE PICS PLEASE!

Crappy pic from my kitchen window of Great Slave Lake. Sailboats and floatplanes all day long.

this is what it looked like a little more than a month ago

^ Thanks for the pics! The views from the kitchen window is really something. So how do you start your car in the -40C in the winter?

by keeping the clutch in as long as it takes to stay running, battery blanket, engine block heater, free plug-in power at work....

Yellowknife is actually a nice place. I had a stop-over there on my way to Inuvik last November and I didn't mind it at all.

crazy stuff, not sure I could take it for very long, but I think it'd be worse in the winter when the opposite is true (dark the majority of the day), talk about cabin fever.

oh yeah, VERY appropriate license plate.
