Frozen, what's the coldest you've seen on your dash? I saw -54c Thankfully, the synthetic fluids were installed earlier. Any Northern Lights lately?

Diavik and BHP are both customers of the company I work for, they process A LOT of rock.

I had a beer in Yellowknife once, then continued onto Inuvik to unload a helicopter shell that the crew up there couldn't figure out how to unload. Hint...loosen the cargo straps a little. Easiest OT ever.

My dash temp gauge only goes to -30c. But my car drives though whatever temp I put it through.

Last Jan, I pulled a 16hr shift, my car sat out in the parking lot all night (plugged in) at -50/60c plus wind. I started driving home, and of course the blizzaks were square. So after a couple blocks, they soften up a bit. I thought everything was all well and good, not driving past 40km, only to have 2 tires come off their rims. I pulled over at the gas station, called the missus to bring over my summer tires, and I put them on (brrrrr). Drove home to have 1 more winter tire come off the rim, a block from home. I eased it into the garage. For the record, Blizzaks are still the best for cold winters, can't expect any winter tire to hold up to that.

As in block heater.

At those temps, the oil turns to sludge and the doors don't close.

Great thread. Do you ever have fun thrashing the STI around in the snow, or is reliability always a problem? The engine block heater can't heat the tranny fluid, you mentioned square blizzaks, etc. Sounds pretty awful to me... how about sled dogs?

Zero CELs since I bought her in Aug 05, I nurse the tranny when it's retard cold, and I have a few co-workers that have their own dog teams.

My STi has been the most trouble free vehicle I ever had *knocks wood*

You actually have summer tires?

Sounds like nearly the perfect place to own an STI .

I was the first in town to own one, and now I think there are 4 of them. Waiting to see an EVO X now that they sell in Canada.

Where do you get all your maintence done?

I'm thinking that your car was the last well-tuned STi that came out of Subracing.

That is some beautiful scenery! The view from your kitchen window is awesome! I would love to make it up that way for a road trip!!!
