If you are a platinum member, you can change your own title. Otherwise, PM Kevin or any of the moderators and they may be able to change it for you.

Basically here is the situation


I know my stuff, or at least like to think I do, as I have close to 2 decades wrenching (10+ years professionally) and experience in the high performance auto world both import and domestic. I dont by any means think I know everything, but I like to think I have a pretty decent experience base to draw from.

I also used to have a VERY short temper, and a pretty abrasive temperment.
At the time, I had a bad rep from being a jerk on Nasioc previously. This lead a lot of people here to look for problems in my posts, even if there werent any.

Not that there wasnt a lot of BS from me, I admit that, but I also got a lot of accusations of being a jerk, where I really wasnt, but because people were expecting me to be, they managed to find a way to look at it that way.
Again, not every case, but somewhat often. Sometimes I was being a jerk, sometimes not. But the reality is, be a dick once, and people seem to expect it of you, and will always look for a way to be offended by what you say. I fully expect some old school IWSTI member is going to see this post/thread and find a way to be upset by it Hopefully not.

Back on the knowledge subject re: me knowing my stuff...
So do a bunch of other people that used to be here. Unfortunately, there were also a TON of people that had no idea what they were doing, but had a lot of money to have someone else build their cars. A lot of others thought that a lot of mods=great knowledge.


When you have people that know their stuff, but have different philosophies (sp??) they will often disagree. When they disagree, those that dont know as much, but like or believe one person or the other, will jump all over the other person, going anywhere from calling them an idiot, to insinuating that they are an idiot. This happens pretty much everywhere on the internet, but at the time is was REALLY bad here.
There are also cases where one person knows their stuff and another doesnt, and if they disagree, again, people take sides. And when you disagree with that other person, the fanboys of either side almost in every case, call you a know-it-all.

Unfortunately, I used to be completely unable to "walk away". So I tore into people fairly viciously. I still 100% feel they deserved it. But obviously that doesnt mean it should have ever been posted. Ya know?

There was a lot of douchebaggery coming from not only myself, but several other people on this forum. The difference was I took things to the next level. I spent an hour or so going back through all my posts that were helpfull, and deleting them, leaving essentially an FU message in their place. I pulled my alcohol injection FAQ down off the board, and asked mods to not allow it to be linked here. (like there was a way to enforce that )

Then I decided the best way to not have to deal with this board, was to not be a member. Knowing that I was a complete obsessive compulsive forum junky, I knew banning was the only solution.

SO I made a post basically telling the entire board to go to hell. Knowing I would be banned by it.

I did however have a new screen name in place months before this.


That is another subject.. I did that to prove a point. My point was that many of the times I was being accused of being a dick, I in fact wasnt, and people were just twisting my words. SO, what I did was create another account, and start using it. I posted the EXACT same kinds of things in the tech forums, and not once, ever, did anyone say I was being a dick.

It should be noted however that I stayed out of any drama. The thing was, if someone posted asking "Is this mod good?" I would respond with something like "no, that sucks, but try this one, it should work well" and I would be called a dick for saying it sucks, and accused of having some personal agenda (that is almost word for word what happened once)


In any case, I have calmed down over the years. My bad rep is gone on nasioc (for good reason, I stopped tearing into people).

I dont really have a lot of reason to be here, but things get linked and its a pain to read or respond without my acct (which has been unbanned for a long time now I just dont need that crap under my name as a title

Like I said, it was douchebaggery on both several other IWSTI members (btw, 2 of which I KNOW have since been banned for being asses) and my part (intentionally got myself banned)

The funny part? The mod that banned me is a friend. He was just tired of listening to me ***** and complain lol. He later left IWSTI, citing the same kinds of attitudes that annoyed me (not that I shouldnt have either just left it alone or deleted the bookmark in my favorites folder, hindsight is 20/20) Vindication is a wonderful feeling.

For the record, even back when I WAS an ass on Nasioc and a few other places, I never had the sorts of friction that I had here. I definately wasnt delusional A prick, but not a delusional prick

Its the "kinder gentler" davenow lol.


The thing is, I have an INSANELY high energy and enthusiasm level. I am also a bit blunt and I look at things somewhat black and white.

So a lot of things I have posted, got taken the wrong way, and where I was totally not being a dick, it got taken that way. Mostly because of the way I worded things, to me and people that know me, these posts werent anything bad. To people that DONT know me, it got taken as me being a dick.

Not that I wasnt a dick at times of course. But many times, I wasnt.


So I basically figured out how to word things better, so that when I wasnt being a dick, it wouldnt come off that way.

Strangely enough, when you arent being a dick, people believe you I think its stupid that people equate someone being a jerk with them not knowing what they are doing, but that is how it is, so post accordingly I figure.

My mind just totally wandered just now lol. My point is that I figured out how to word things to not piss people off.
