A. it's not an automatic. It doesn't have a torque converter. It's basically a dsg with a computer that can shift automatically. I can see the argument here but it's not like this trans performs horribly.

B. Nissan had a press release stating they were on stock tires.

what with e-penis' lately?

It IS a semiAUTOMATIC or manumatic (something like that lol) = boring as hell to drive. Why wouldn't Nissan have that as an option and make the stick standard?

Oh I forgot, that is all IMO obviously.

they didn't develop a stick shift.

I imagine they would have had to compromise something to do it old school.

On the GT-R, I have to say this:
The Truth About the Nissan GT-R and the Nürburgring Lap Record | The Truth About Cars
2009 Nissan GT-R Review | The Truth About Cars

I really don't like that web site, but in this case they make good points. I think the GT-R love-fest will be short lived.

it was run on stock re070's which "look" like cut slicks. the "quote" about the tires has been modified as nissan said they could have used them to get a time, but didnt.
NO manufacturer is allowed to run a full timed lap there... all of the manufacturer times are from pit out to the final corner, including teh z06 time.
conditions are always different at the ring, and have no bearing unless the track is wet (as it partially was for the gtr).

that site had nice "points" however it would have been nicer if they had "facts" instead of (conspiracy) theories.

Yeah, I would prefer to see auto companies develop the perfect manual trani. (perfect syncros, awesome strength)

I don't understand your post. Do you think Cobb has not done any testing or development on their GTR? Should they be beta testing with some people other than customers? (who I think deserve the first shot) Have you seen any Mazdas with damage resulting from an AccessPORT? Do you have any evidence or information to sudjest it's not going well? It seems to me that given the nature of this car and the reviews (COBB Forums - View Poll Results) received, that things are going well. Especially considering how early in the revisions the maps are. Keep in mind how the AccessPORT works and how conditions can effect tuning a car.

from what I understand, the MS3's ECU is more complex than the GTR's (other than security protocols)

Why not?

Z06 posted better times from a stop than the GT-R did from a roll.

Facts are facts.

That shouldn't be surprising. going from a stop is a huge advantage when racing a car that's doing a slow roll.

I hope they do one better and put the engine behind the driver. That'd beat AWD any day... but would it still be in the tradition of a Corvette?

Yes, that's just it. Air/fuel ratios are all over the place, users are getting pinging, and even Cobb is now saying their kit reduces spark plug life from 100k miles to 15k. It seems as if Cobb is tuning on a dyno and their dyno isn't simulating real-life driving completely.

And now they're doing Nissan, who has said they're going to make the ECU "tamper-proof" just to screw with the aftermarket folks. I wouldn't lend my $100k+ car to an experiment, that's for sure.

haha, another one of "these" threads. both cars are bad ass, each has their advantages, and I'm sure there are not that many unhappy Z06/GTR owners.

all i gotta say is the Z is a straight killer from a roll, and everyone knows street racing is king, haha! j/k!

Whats with all the manumatic hating going on in here. I currently have a GTI with DSG and I love it and its not boring at all. Driving my EVO and STI was fun but I actually like the DSG better. Innovation. I'm pretty sure they use these style transmissions in F1 for a reason.

The GTR is still sweet automatic style or not, and check out the latest Road and Track for its 4 track test. The GTR did really well. The Z06 is still sweet but I would choose the GTR.

I think you need to reexamine the situation. Facts are facts you are right..............

The fact is.............on a 1:20 minute course (topgear) the z06 was beaten by 3 seconds. A HUGE HUGE Advantage........

So if you think it's as fast as the skyline............not on that track.

To the guy who said "it's still and automatic", that maybe true..........however it's an automatic that will shift fast enough to disgrace what you're capable of.
