First of all that's not me and second of all if you read the thread the guy's not trying to wheely. Why would I deny being him when he's got the same outlook as me. A twin maybe? perhaps.

Whatever, hate me because I bought gixxer as a first bike. But I will learn to ride it and will do so responsibly. It can be done. It's called self control and I've got it. Would I have been better off with a 250r? Probably but it's not the bike I wanted so I made the decision to buy the bike I want and learn on it. Sure I'll probably dump it but it won't be trying to stunt or take corners beyond my limits. I'll dump it by being put in the same situation i would have faced on a 250. It will hurt my wallet more but whatever.

Wow.. you have no balls. I would have fessed up. If you had control you would not be out trying to pull wheelies.

btw if u dont like the thread then just leave, "change the channel," do you see me ranting on ur threads?
It's not usually reccommended as a beginner bike mainly because it makes around 100hp. I also remember hearing that the motor is just a tweaked version of the R6 motor, which is another not-so-great thing.

Check this: *Looking for a beginner bike? Look no further...* - Sportbikes.net

Its a pretty good list with pics that gives a few options for beginner bikes.

^ i dont understand, so just because it makes good power, it cant be a beginner bike despite any of its other significant features that would thus allow it to qualify as a beginner bike? Best Beginner Motorcycles > (at least this is composed by professionals rather than coming from someone random in a forum you know)...just a thought

ninja 650 is coming around to my liking...

i was at the local motorcycle dealership earlier today and saw a $72,000 ducatti bike (producing over 200+ hp) > outrageous!...and it was sold also

It's DUCATI. for f*cks sake.

Go a buy what you want. I'm sure your super mature and have control ... Maybe you should make an offer on the D16 RR.

"Good power" is not the reason its a bad beginner bike. It's high-strung I4 motor is borrowed from the R6.

Ninja 250R
Engine: 4-stroke Parallel twin, DOHC, Liquid cooled, 8-Valve, w/ counterbalancer
Displacement: 248cc
Horsepower: 36hp
Torque: 18ft lbs

Ninja 500R
Engine: Liquid-cooled four-stroke, counter-balanced, 8-valve, dual chain-driven overhead camshaft 180° parallel twin
Displacement: 498cc
Horsepower: 52hp
Torque: 30ft lbs

Ninja 650R
Engine: 4-Stroke, Liquid-Cooled, DOHC, 4-Valve per Cylinder, Parallel Twin
Displacement: 649cc
Horsepower: 72hp
Torque: 48ft lbs

Yamaha FZ6
Engine: Liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder; DOHC, 16 valves
Displacement: 600cc
Horsepower: 96hp
Torque: 45ft lbs

Yahama R6
Engine: Liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder; DOHC, 16 titanium valves
Displacement: 599cc
Horsepower: 131hp
Torque: 50ft lbs

I think the stats speak for themselves but also take note that the "typical beginner bikes" all have Twin engines. Power delivery on a Twin tends to be smoother and more predicatable when compared to a high-reving high-strung inline 4. On an I4 power delivery can be sudden and dangerous at times making them less than ideal for beginners. And go tell those "professionals" on the other forum you want to buy a 600+cc supersport as your 1st bike and let us know what they say. I have a feeling it'll be pretty much the same exact stuff that most of us have been telling you. I personally feel you are buying a bike based on how it looks and you already have your mind made up no matter what people tell you. Just be safe and try not to kill yourself.

This is true for small twins and maybe the TL-R/RC-51 ... But I have to say a properly setup 99* is one of the most violent bikes you can get on. The tourque is scary.

OT.....No offense Hitman but I see it as extremely improbable that the person in the honda forums would not be you as you both have identical bikes and cars to start with.

Anyhow be careful and stay safe on that bike

This thread was started as "recommended best beginner motorcycle". Most of the best beginner motorcycles have been recommended/mentioned in this thread.

You "beginners" can buy whichever bike, you feel, fits your needs best. If that bike happens to be the Ducati Desmosedici RR, R6, CBR 600RR, 650R, or a GSX R750, buy it, but it is not the best "beginner" motorcycle.

And if you do buy one of the non-recommended "race" bikes, be extremely careful and alert because it takes more than self-control to be safe.

Mike
