im honestly not looking to push the limits or go tracking...there's a judge of character in that, which you really cant say about me not knowing me, and not necessarily due to the fact of just because im an already experienced rider. haha and my quad was certainly not at all just some "toy" to me. i looked like a fruit constantly cleaning, taking care, and babying it but i didnt care as it was mine and i treated it the way i wanted to. speed limit is fine for me. and there wouldnt be on-coming traffic unless you conisdered other riders and animals in trails and whatnot...needless to say, they're different of course, obviously and everyone knows that already....but they can relate in many ways

You don't fully understand how tempting a sportbike can be.... Best of luck to you. (by the way, I said all the same things as you when I was looking for my first bike)

nice...btw, i never said anything about making the decision of getting a sportbike and EVERYBODY says that "o i used to say that all the time" line or the common "o i know the type already when you say that"...would you like for me to say it in portuguese then? how else am i supposed to express myself in other words other than a different language in order to clarify that you are not me nor is anyone else and vice versa. remember that

I'm glad you aren't set on a sportbike. I wasn't being a dick, I do want you to have good luck with all this.

I never bought in to the "Everyone is special and unique" lesson we all got in pre-school. The thing is, that's a bunch of crap. We are all human and we push the limits, we make mistakes. Nobody says "I'm going to buy a sportbike, disrespect the speed limit and go out in flames under a truck," but it happens. Just don't become a statistic or one of the stories people tell to scare new riders into riding safely.

yeah i hear ya...the unexpected could occur at any random moment so its always better to be prepared

and imho, everyone is different...no two or more people ever share the same exact lives you know...we can have similar situations and or relative experiences, but never will they actually match exactly the same overall due to everyone's own unique path

Most importantly, I'll have the bike for years to come and won't have to upgrade because I bought some lame ass "learner's bike". I think you'll be disapointed with anything less than a 600. Heck, I know the 750 rips and it already feels anemic when i get on it. had I bought a 600 I'd already be wishing I'd bought something with balls. The bottom line is that if you've got self control just buy the bike you want. :flame suit on:
Wow! This is the most foolish post I've read in a long time. Don't give other folks such bad advise, especially with your wealth of experience.

Self control has nothing to do with controlling the power of the motorcylce or taking care of your safety. Experience is the best way to execute safe riding. As other have said, a situation WILL arise and you will not know how to deal with it properly. I hope that you will not be injured when it happens.

In addition, beginner bikes are not "Lame", even seasoned riders find the Ninja 250R a very pleasing bike to ride, including me.

I thought I might throw in my 2 cents. I am by know means a experienced rider. I rode dirt bikes over twenty years ago and stopped after some pretty bad spills. I have been into fast cars now for 15 years. Drag racing at first and then graduating to road racing. I decided a few months ago to jump back into motorcycles. I am 36 years old and felt like a crotch rocket would be fine as I am more mature and easy going than I used to be. The wife felt like it was a bad idea so we came to a happy medium. I bought a little Ducati Monster. It is just fine for me but I feel myself consatntly wanting to go faster or turn a little harder. I have made a few mistakes and know that I would have paid dearly if I got the bike that I really wanted which was the pearl white Duc 848. I aam trying to get my "two wheel legs" under me as I don't want to be that guy that you hear about. I feel that I am pretty mature but lets face it...we always want to go a little faster (look at what we drive). Go with what feels good for you and accept whatever you do with it. 250 to 1300...they are all fun...and can kill you in the blink of an eye. Good Luck.

As for chicken strips I've got them but they're well under and inch and would be gone if it weren't for me respecting the bike, local laws etc. As you know, it takes a lot of speed to wear the entire tire and I know I'm neither ready to push my limits nor and I willing to drive at the speed required to do so. I've had the bike less than two weeks and know dragging a knee comes with time. Why force it? Again, this goes back to respecting the machine and LEARNING the bike first. Currently I'm doing both.

As for what i said about the anemic feeling, what I meant is that it doesn't take long to get used to the power. It's kinda like the guys who have a methed out 35r and want more power. It feels really really fast at first but will eventually feel "normal" when in fact it's ridiculous.

My point is that with proper throttle control one can enjoy any bike without facing imminent death and you shouldn't let some dude who dumped his 250r deter you from getting the bike you want. His points are valid and should be listened to but don't think it's impossible to learn on a sport bike. Many do it. Just keep in mind that many crash trying. The difference between those who wreck and those who don't comes down to self control and respect for the bike. Having both I'm confident that i can learn on my bike (which is why I bought it) and based on your posts I feel you (OP) can too.
Seriously... When you go down on the 750 perfecting your mad control skills, sell me your TMIC. 5 bucks says you won't be needing it anymore. You will be pulling wheelies with 2 big wheels under your a55 like my buddy.

If you had self control you would have exercised it and bought a 250. nuff said

Guess what? If you don't twist the throttle, the bike doesn't go any faster. Now take the superior braking and handling ability of a sport bike, add that to self control and it CAN be more safe than a large cc cruiser that none of you bike guys would get your panties into a bunch about. nuff said.

Have you twisted your wrist without first learning how to properly turn or stop? nuff said.

no i dont think so really...if anything it may be a dual purpose bike for the under 500cc range

and im still waiting to hear from someone with experience on the fz6. yeah its 600cc but its among the top 5 beginner bikes so im still considering it. the sportbikes are taken care of

Guess what? When you roll the throttle on due to your "lack of feeling fast"... you will be going fast... now in steps a 17yr girl pulling in front of you in her new Viper. Speed kills. On a 250 you would be on a bike that handles much better and it's buffer zone for mistakes is large. The one your's has the same zone as my 996...

Nice..YES.. all 17yr drivers should be driving around in vipers...If it were hitmans world.

As I said before ... the racing world thanks you. again nuff said.
