I apologize, I don't know you. However, I have read your posts, you have no experience with a street bike and you are already buying a bike based on ego. You "could" do great with any bike on your list, but nobody here would like you to get injured and become another statistic.

It is always best to move up after you acquire some experience, than to start with something that is too big or too fast, as I did. I've been down 4 times and luckily, I have escaped injury.

In addition, your young, check insurance rates on the bikes you have selected, they could be quite expensive.

Mike

alright thanks...what would you recommend among the list or outside the list then for a beginner type rider like me? (with some background in motocross/atvs)...i certainly dont want to be jumping the gun as you mentioned cause that's what usually almost always leads things to happen

you still haven't said WHY you don't want a beginner bike? you think some of those bikes are "too slow" perhaps? maybe not flashy enough? If you're as mature as you say, THINK about the situation. Would you have liked to learn how to drive in a full blown race car? of course not. Modern 600s and up aren't to be taken lightly. Just the brakes alone will kill you if not used properly.
No one wants you to get hurt, so listen to the advice and you'll be a much better rider because of it.

Dude people have told you what you should do. Not that it matters anyway. Good luck with your used R6. You will most likey go out and get one..... pretty much everyone on here agree's a 250 or SV is the way to go.

My money is on you buying whatever your buddies think is cool.

Just out of pure curiosity what do you do that allows you to own a STi and a new bike at 20 yrs old? ... And no i'm not jealous.. at 20 I had 3 bikes a nice car and a killer house..

The problem is not you being irresponsible or moronic, its how well you can handle yourself during certain situations. There's soo many things that can go wrong when riding, and as a beginner you WILL NOT know how to correctly react to all of them. There's a fine margin of error when riding a bike which makes them completely different from cars or atvs. Very small mistakes can cost your life. Sport bikes are VERY unforgiving. They're designed to be high-strung and perform well on a track. As a result they're extremely sensitive to your inputs. Accidently give the bike too much gas during a turn (which is quite is easy to do) and the rear breaks loose, you're going down. What happens if the guy in the car in front of you stops short? Will you be able to brake hard enough to not hit it all while keeping your brakes from locking up? Not to mention all the road hazards, oil slicks, pot holes, stupid drivers, etc.

The reason people are recommending those 500cc & 250cc bikes to you is because they're extremely more forgiving. They're not as high-strung and won't put you in the hospital if you react the wrong way. Used bikes are also a must for a beginner because you WILL drop it. Don't buy the bike because of how it looks or how quick it is. Buy it because it will keep you out of the hospital, then upgrade when you have experience.

You never answered my question. In your original post you only say you want a sport bike and to be 600cc until you outgrow it. you proceeded to list some bikes but never said why you chose those. Obviously you're not making decisions in a vacuum.
Bottom line, it's your body so just get what you want. It's literally no skin off my back.

haha buddy, i never said it had to be 600cc or a sportbike...i only pointed out a few that i knew and i was interested in (as i said, im new to the motorcycle world coming from atv's so im not familiar with all of them, like i should be???) > my fault for just thinking of a few that i knew and not making the right preliminary choice? why do you think i made this thread? thats right, very good, in order to FIND OUT what would be better if so than those bikes for a beginner rider with background in motocross riding.

again, lower your egos just because i chose a few bikes that apparently have a really bad reputation for stupid immature riders not knowing how to ride and ruinning it for the rest of us like me and making you guys sadly confuse them with whom i could possibly become. it's the same thing with the sti, how there are the stupid a$$ careless drivers out there and when people see me driving one, already ASSUME...get a life for those who assume, you dont know me...and unfortunately people these days dont know how to listen or read carefully

Aprilia RS250... on a track...

Even if you're infallibly responsible, most other motor vehicle drivers aren't.

When I worked at the bike dealer back in the day, there was not single kid who did not sing the same song as you.

Mi_Black, the most constructive advice I can give you is to take ABATE courses if they're available near you. You don't even need to own a bike to take them. Most supply 250 bikes for you to use and learn on. Another positive is that they can potentially lower your insurance costs.
