viperguy i jumped from a 50cc beginner's quad to a sport race 650cc one (because my dad surprised me with it seeing that i could i handle and believes in going big with everything so as to never tired of it later) now u might say ah well thats a quad, bla bla bla, but in the atv world, that's a huge jump expecially being that i wasnt even near 16 years old and had very lil experience still. i still managed to handle and control it and master it through time with absolutely no injuries or trouble other than for some minor with the police. eventually sold it and moved to the 450cc for certain reasons that i felt were necessary (to go for a lighter bike was one thing for sure). and again. im not comparing apples to oranges. (sti to streetbike) > not what this is about. i dont think a 250 or 400 is cutting it. i think 600 is the perfect number. and i never put any consideration into a 1000.

my biggest worry is other drivers out on the road if that takes consideration for deciding which bike
Well I have a 250 and a 400 that you will never out ride.

Well look up Honda RVF 400 RR and RS 250.

Both make about 70hp and weight nothing.

Thanks for the correction......but if you like to get technical it is gsxrs and ducaties, plural, OK? ..........been there done that, and doubt it very much. And again you are assuming a lot of thing here.

But going back to the original post i think you have somewhat experience because you been riding already. All bikes are good as long as you ride with in your abilities and confort zone. Just be sensible.

I ride my bike daily, it is my commuter to work and is used for small errands. I have a Buell Lightning XB with a 1203cc engine and I get on average, 50 MPG. It is true, tires don't last as long as they do on cars (though, I did go through a set of tires in 800 miles in my STi....), but it still depends on the size of wheels and the type of riding is done. In addition, motorcycle insurance can be more expensive than car insurance, so that needs to be considered.

Well, by the sound of it, you're dead set on a 600- That said, buy the one that's most comfortable to you. Bikes now are all so dang close to being the same I would find it hard to believe you could even really tell a difference. If it's your first bike, why not try one a little older. Such as an '03 for an R6-The first year they started doing FI...As a first bike, you won't notice a difference between inverted forks, and the other small differences... Just a though, saving money on a first bike is always good. I don't think it matters how good you are, you will put your first bike down. You might not do it at 80, or even 20, but there will be a day when your backing it up, and all of a sudden your foot looses traction and down she goes- Small stuff you don't even think about until after it happens. Just my $.02 :dunno:

^^^^^
From what I have read throughout this thread, I would not be surprised if the O.P. purchased a Hyabusa, though, it does not fit the 600cc requirement, which is perhaps a good thing.

rdrcr, why would you not be surprised about me getting a 1000? haha u dont even know me man! lol enough to find out that im not the daredevil type. i can be adventurous but to my own limits buddy. i know what my limits are and the 1000 certainly exceeds them

at least viperguy you might be on the right track but i wouldnt go for a new model sportbike, used is more like it from the likelihood of dropping it down at some point somehow or another
