Only 1 thing i need to say to all of those with balls of steel that go on two wheels.

''PLEASE PRETEND YOUR INVISIBLE AND NO ONE SEES YOU!''

SO many soccer ''slut'' moms on phone, doing make up, yelling at kids looking for a starbucks for the most important espresso fix ...and oh yes driving a multiple ton gas hog with one knee all at same time.
Drunks, self centered ASSHATTED Elitist that are late for a noon tee time could care less about you until they are getting booked for a charge of Man slaughter [ will get probation at worst].Bus drivers kill folks all the time but its not front page news etc...
So please pretend.

Vroom293,

Agreed. Distractions are a real problem for motorists, especially with all the new electrical gadgets, which in turn, are a huge problem for motorcyclists. You really need to mentally prepare yourself before every ride, no matter how short of a ride or how short of a distance you are traveling. Basically, I look at it like this, every motorist on the road is trying to kill me, when I least expect it.

The DRZ400 is a good choice, a buddy of mine owns one, it is his only transportation, he has had it for many, many years, and that bike is bulletproof.

yeah im really liking it . it doesnt have the power or styling as a gixxer but i think it fits best with my own riding needs and desire. after all i have my sti for power. this bike for me should just be something to get around with supreme handling, too many out there already that are for showing off.

As useful as this thread seems to be I guess i'll add to it..

Honda > *

hah

But about the power issue... I started on my CBR600RR although it wasn't recomended.... Have I hurt myself? No.. have I come close? Yes. Not only have I tried to push myself a little too hard and gotten to hot in a curve i've also gotten pretty tired and couldn't feel my hand.. wrist gets tired...throttle doesn't move as well lol the RR isn't as forgiving as a smaller bike would be. (BTW my "little 600" has beaten a big bad gixxer 750 so apparently there isn't much diff. there big boy) I do agree with the bike only gives you as much power as you take.. but that doesn't mean there isn't too much there. Heck I road my boyfriends CBR1000RR and I was blown away and scared lol I couldn't even turn the damn thing it was so diff.. well it didn't help the front tire was bald and crappy.
But ANYWAYS. You know the basics, now it's up to YOU and only you. Go sit on a crap load and get the feel of them. Whatever fits YOU the best. I wouldn't go any higher than a 600cc and I'd take the MSF class (although I didn't but do as I say not as I do)

And I also agree with the sportbike makes you want to push the limits sometimes. I'm still VERY careful when riding but man does a nice straight away make me want to try to pull it up on one wheel!! And every time we go on a long ride I wear my "chicken strips" down more every single time.
At least I still never ride without boots, jacket, jeans, gloves, and helmet........

haha the white bike and white sti! and not to mention that you happen to be a girl, wow, thats so awesome. funny cause im actually looking at only getting a black bike (which my dad laughs at me for) as i want it to match my black sti too. lol. but anyway, i very much appreciate your contribution. its very well said imho as you were basically stating that it comes down to the rider him or her self. i was racing off-road with my honda atv for years now so maybe i'll consider a honda motorcycle as the atv did so well for me. personally, i find that there's definitely a noticeable difference in the way a bike "fits" (even in the same class and size) such as when comparing yamaha, honda, and suzuki. all great bikes, hell being japanese made and all. however, i have always felt a more comfort riding level to honda and suzukis for my own personal fit. the real debate for me is deciding between a sport or dual

Most dirt riders go for sport bikes The RR has an odd feel to it though. A lot of first timers go for the F4i which is still a very nice bike but it fits better. You don't have that race stance all the time if that means anything. I just got this bike because it's the boyfriend's old one and I was able to make payments to him for it. I've played on other bikes before just in parkinglots since I was 16.. then before I met the b/f I would take a friends Ninja 500 out on the streets (so not the bike for me lol) but it was in the backwoods of WV..

My bike was Yellow but I didn't like it... It had some scratches from the owner before the b/f. The dudes kid was running around and bumped into it making it fall over and it fell over one day when I road 2 hours in the rain went it was like 20 degrees out lol I got off of it and turned around and plop.. it went over.
I was trying to decide if I wanted black or white and chose white for a little more visability. We painted it ourself..... I do NOT recomend that!!! OMG what a pain!!! And apparently we chose the wrong paint because it's chipping a little from rocks and it's cracking on the tank Only I can notice it because i'm anal... but thankfully the STi needs some new paint (well not thankfully) so when I get the money to paint her i'm going to get the bike sprayed with the same white.
They do look DAMN sexy next to each other I need to take them out and get better pics.

but yea here it is when I bought it from him

next to his beasty bike lol I HATED all the stickers too. Those were a ***** to get off.

I love it though. By far my best purchase EVER!!! Granted it seems like cars sometimes TRY to hit you lol but it makes you feel damn good riding. And saves on gas! lol
