sure. just make sure to bleed them ASAP. their blood contains ureum, and makes the flesh smell and taste like pee if you don't do this properly.

i only kept and ate one for myself. usually i catch & release, sometimes i donate one to a fellow fisherman that didn't catch anything (when they ask if they can have it before i release it)

i like them grilled or on the BBQ

So what kind of shark is that? Pretty cool markings.
I am mostly a catch and release guy. The lake trout I have a picture of is most likely still swimming. I like to keep pike because they will eat a lake to devestation, and the big ones are AWESOME eating. Very similar to lingcod. The day I brought home 5, I belive I caught around 40-50 of the averaging around 10-12lbs. The daily limit is 20 at that lake, but I had to walk about 2.5 miles and the 5 fish added up to about 60 lbs.
I also was alone and was crossing grizzly tracks in every soft part in the soil, and saw one from about 300 yards away. Even with a .44 at my side I was nervous as hell.

Yeah 'cause everyone always takes pictures of the small ones right?

it's a leopard shark.
it's pretty common in the SF bay and surrounding shore line.

heh, i can't imagine crossing paths with a grizzly carrying a load of fresh fish

i didn't have any tourists around me to snap a picture with me in it when i caught a bigger that day.

i did take a picture, but not with me in it. for reference, that's a 9ft team daiwa surfrod with a shimano baitrunner. using 20lbs powerpro braid. the big ones can take 30-45 minutes before you get them out of the water on a setup like that. it's tons of fun!

Very nice! you are inspiring me to go out again soon.
Hope you know I was just joking earlier. A good rule of thumb, at least where I'm from, is basically never trust anything a fisherman tells you, cause it's probably BS. It's all part of the fun.
