Price is close yes... but in terms of driving dynamics, I don't think it'll be close.

The TL will be nice for what it is, a larger luxury/performance sedan. But the STI/EVO will give the better overall driver slanted experience that most people on this forum are looking for.

Good luck with that. So what are you comparing to the TL and why is this on the STI forum. Cause you can't compare the STI with the TL either. Infiniti G35x, BMW 330xi, Lexus IS250, SAAB TurboX if you can find one, Ford Fusion....are all in the same classs with various differences.....but not the STI So why is this on this forum??????

Is SH-AWD real AWD or CRV AWD.

SH-AWD is 90%front/10%rear nominally. When traction is limited, it can pass up to 70% of the torque to the back. From there, 100% of that torque can be sent to either rear wheel.

So, on the one hand the car is primarily FWD. On the other hand it actively passes torque left and right in the rear like the EVO X, which of course the STI's Torsen rear diff cannot do.

Hard to say what the net-net of all of this is... Better? Not as good?

You obviously have done little research on how SH-AWD works. It's actually one of the most advanced AWD systems on the market. It can re route tq and vector to any given wheel to aid in cornering. Dont get it twisted with Hondas real time awd.

Hold on there. Only the back two wheels. Granted that's all you need.

As a man recently faced with a buying decision thanks to thieves who stole my beloved 04 STi, I had to make the hard choice between the 08 STi with BBS wheels coming in at 40K, and a 335xi Coupe coming in at 46,500. After seeing both, and driving both, there really was no comparison (especially with Subaru's recent tuning gremlins involving the 2.5T motor) the BMW was far and away superior in every category except price. And thats comparing my optioned up 335xi that came in at 46.5K when I optioned it up and bargained them down (with everything short of the terrible iDrive Nav). I feel the 6K extra I spent for the BMW was a great deal. The BMW had everything the STi had but was 1) Much better looking, 2) Had 4 years FREE maintenance, 3) Comfortable Seats, 4) a 15 speaker stereo, 5) Nice leather interior, 6) Better, more fuel efficient engine, 7) No rattles (none) and a vault like interior that just screams quality, 8) Hundreds of little touches that make it an amazing driving experience and so clearly better designed then the Subaru. To me, all of this was worth the 6.5K premium I paid over a well equipped STI.

Do I even need to mention that with just a reflash the car makes 390hp and with down pipes that number goes into the 425 hp range? The engine is AMAZING! Oh and Dinan mods, while expensive do not void your warranty either.

What can you tell us about its AWD system in the context of this topic?

Well I believe every word you say but I got my STI with BBS' and all upgrades except Navi for 34600 and I can do a lot of fun stuff with 10k extra. That said I know that the smoothness and low end torque and top end power of a 6 would be much prefered. Wish I had $46k

The Saab's TurboX should not be overlooked either. It doesn't have the initial horsepower but it is uses the latest version of the Haldex which has been on Audi cars. The computerization is faster and it essential determines where the slip is an applies traction too. They were saying with less horsepower it beet a 911 around the course and took stiffer lines. Unfortunately it is still quite heavy.
