Sweet, I love working on aircraft. I was an electrical/electronics technician on P-3C Orions in the Navy. They are 4 engine turboprops used for hunting subs. The funny thing is they are too big to land on carriers so I spent my 5 years in the Navy without ever stepping foot on a boat of any kind.

Hopefully this thread catches on, I think it would really be neet to see how diverse/similar we are. Plus it could be a great networking tool.

Haha I hate aircraft. I just love wrenching. We only get one turbofan on the 16 to move the jet

What do you do now?

I am a network systems operator and maintainer for the army. I used to work with and fix routers and switches in the regular army, now I run cat 5, setup computers and phone lines for both secure and non-secure communications state side and overseas. I travel a lot. Right now I am stationed in DC and checking iwsti from _________ (for security reasons, the blank will get updated when I leave this place) while watching WRC Argentina reruns.

Non-deployable with 45000? Trouble . Go for it.

I turned down a $50k reenlistment bonus (also tax free) because I wanted to go to college. College has paid off BIG TIME (Electrical Engineering/Physics) and that $50k is nothing compared to what i'm making now...even factoring in the base pay for whatever rank you are. My advice...go to college and if you absolutely want to stay in the military...go officer.
