Default Removing the front license plate

Hey Guys,

Anyone running without thier front plate? WA state requires a front plate and while I'm sure you could get pulled over for it, I'm not sure if the police are interested. A guy at work has been running his 7-Series for years without a front plate and has never had a problem.

I was thinking of leaving it on for the follow reasons:

1) The wing already attracks unwanted attention. I don't want to give them a real reason to pull me over.

2) Police always target the front plate when using lidar (laser speed detectors). I can install a laser defusing cover on the plate which may give me an extra couple seconds to slow down if needed.

Comments?

I would say that's a really good idea. I was thinking about leaving my front plate off, but you're right, the wing draws a lot of attention. I'm actually thinking about switching my trunk lid out with an RS or something. I'm going to check out that laser diffusing cover. Sounds interesting.

I've been driving cars around Oregon for 15+ years without front plates and only got pulled over for it once in that time before the STi - as probable cause because they were looking for some armed robbers and didn't get cited. I didn't go 6 months in the STi before getting pulled over for no plate. Fortunately no ticket that time, but the deputy threatened that there would be one the next time (and it was likely we would see him many times again). So now I have a front plate.

Search for "laser shield", you can get them from Radar Roy. Also check out a product called Viel for covering your lights and reflective emblems (search for Viel and coating). There are some pretty compelling videos on the Viel site.

through years of experience on this matter you will get a ticket.. for oregon the fine is around $150.00 and since you have "one of those fast cars with a wing" your a target.. it suck but what do you do

Dont waste time covering just your plates, cause the head lights reflect just as much of there beam..

Unless the headlights are on . . . and then they just confuse the laser a bit.

I've done some tests and the new Washington state plates are extreemly reflective. In second place is the new style HID foglight, coming in last is the headlights which are actually not as reflective as I expected. Fortunatly there's "Veil" for covering the lights.
