Default possibly moving to bay area next year?

hey im possibly moving to the bay area, i still roam the site eventhough i no longer own a sti, currently own a r32 vdub. i like the bay area and my family lives in the emeryville area. im set on moving but i cant until next spring. how do you guys like the area? i like driving stick but ive seen some hills in the area and they seem pretty vicious. what are you guys opinions? i see alot of people have heavily modded vehicles, how are the emission laws around northern cali? everybody obviously knows about socal's laws and im curious as to your guys/gals opinions on norcal! thanks a bunch.

Hey! I am from socal but go to school up here. Emeryville eh... that is just down the street. All I can say is the hills in SF suck for traffic. They ride your rear bumper like the reason for life is written on your license frame. There is a huge norcal thread which you are definitely welcome to join, regardless of the car you drive.

MKIV R32 or MKV? There are some nice ones of both out here.

It's not as hilly as you think, depending where you drive. There are a lot of fun roads, and the weather in the spring, summer and fall permits going out there and having fun.

Emission laws are pretty strict, I will not comment further, if you want more info PM me.

Yes there are a lot of modded cars.

In general, one if not the most expensive areas to live in in the entire country, after Hawaii perhaps...but it's worth it IMO.

Let us know when you move.

I'll be brutally honest here, it's tough for most people out of CA to move to CA, especially the Bay Area. It is much much more expensive to live here. You can't exist here with 30K/year. Heck, you'd be lucky to exist here with 60K/year being single.

Other people might tell you I'm full of $h1T, but they might be living with huge credit card debts, or their parents help them or they don't save anything per month.

The rent in the EAst Bay is about 700-800/month for a room. The food is more expensive than in the Mid-west (I've been in the Mid-west for business and have eaten out there and it was a joke....a full breakfast for 7 dollars plus tip.)

Gas is 3.70/gallon.

In general, everything here is more expensive. Hell, if I moved to Colorado or the east coast I can have my own house right now, here it barely buys you a townhouse...

The girls here are stuck up.

If I didn't scare you yet, than by all means, come on by!

Just keeping it real. (as I always do)

yeah, with the numbers they told me, i should be making about 70-80k a year, and i have a place to stay, either at my cousins condo or my uncles/aunts condo. so rent will be extra cheap. plus making 70-80k is the minimum, if i work hard enough i can always make more money.

That would be very ideal. That's where I'm at right now.

If my parents come back to Cali, I'm moving back with them. (screw the rent)

Do you know where you'll be working?

Some of the major Toyota dealers in the East Bay are:

Toyota of Walnut Creek,

Concord Toyota

Dublin Toyota

Downtown Toyota (Oakland)

Berkeley Toyota..

I'm sure there are more.

Toyota also has some big corporate center about 2 miles from my place in San Ramon.
