Default C6 Z06 (STock) vs M6 (Modified)... Upto 180MPH+

M6 Mods:
Carbon air filters removed
K & N stock filter replacement
Supersprint Headers
Supersprint Cats
Superprint X-Pipe w/ SS Resonator
Supersprint Sport Mufflers
AA Cam ECU Tune
3.91 Dinan Differential
Schrick Kelleners cams (showed no power gain on the dyno)
Evosport Pulley

2007 C6 ZO6:
Stock

Does it sound like the Z06 is pushing it at all? Cause even with those mods the M6 is still way heavier than the C6 Z06.

Even with the mods on the m6, I would think the z06 would win. Something fishy IMO.

I dont know, an m6 may be a heavy beast but its still got the power that equals to that of the z06, so with the addition of mods (dependent on which mods and actual hp gains from aforementioned mods) the m6 may just gain the upper hand in the situation.

I agree that a modded m6 is a beast, but I would think it would be closer to the z06, and not just pull away like that.

I would too agree to this but another factor could be that the guy in the z06 just flat out sucked at shifting while the m6's driver had the added advantage of an SMG clutchless transmission that can achieve a gear change in fractions of a second. But yea i definitely see where your coming from with your skepticism.

Wow! Nice vid"s! Did not think the M-6 would do that well against the Z0-6....the vett would "seem" to be much slippier at high speeds.

i think from a dig z06 definitly beat the m6 on 1/4 mile. but in long run m6 has much better top-end.not to mention they are rated over 200+mph. where as z06 rated is at 197mph

by the way, how much hp/tq was m6 pushing?

Well according to the dyno in his list of vids he made 485HP and 356Torque. He didnt have the pulley when he dynoed so that might add a few more horsepower.

Yeah that looks about right. The 5th gear in the Z06 isn't exactly the best pulling gear (that's where he starts to really lose) and the M6 just has a superior gear box for top speed.

From the m6 boards...

2006 BMW M6 Modified

Mods Consist of:
Carbon air filters removed
K & N stock filter replacement
Supersprint Headers
Supersprint Cats
Superprint X-Pipe w/ SS Resonator
Supersprint Sport Mufflers
AA Cam ECU Tune
3.91 Dinan Differential
Schrick Kelleners cams (showed no power gain on the dyno)
Evosport Pulley

2007 C6 ZO6 - Completely Stock

* (M6 Curb Weight - 3,908 lbs.) 7 spd SMG transmission.
* (C6 ZO6 Curb Weight 3132 lbs.) 6 spd manual transmission.

The main goal here was to be ahead of the ZO6 by 160 mph (that is, before it shifts into 5th). MANY throughout this board as well as several corvette boards said the M6 would be annihilated. Evidently, this did not occur. The M6 beat the ZO6 to 195. It also beat the ZO6 to 160. This happened in both races.

Granted, the ZO6 is stock. But its STILL BLAZING FAST in stock form. And as I said before, the reason why I chose a stock ZO6 is because it has been an "icon" car - pretty much the quickest accelerating car on the planet in its class. The C6 ZO6 Beats the new Porsche 997 turbo, the Ferrari F430, and in many videos even runs side by side with the Ford GT Supercar. Bottom line, to RUN WITH or BEAT a C6 ZO6 in stock form is an accomplishment. To do this with an M5, M6 or any other car for that matter, modded or not is BIG in my book.

Some may also say I only trapped 120-121 mph at the end of the 1/4 mile in my car. With that said many believed that a ZO6 would prevail in a drag race. But many failed to realize that my car spun 1st, 2nd and a bit into 3rd when running through the 1/4 mile. My time results at the track have always suffered.

To compare the way a car will perform on street race is completely different then examining dyno charts and comparing 1/4 mile results that happen on different tracks and in different parts of the world. There are simply too many conditions and variables that can skew projections on "which car will win a race".

The best way to see the true potential of two cars is to run them side by side in an organized drag race, do your best to eliminate driver error and hold out the throttle in every gear to see which car prevails.............and in this case, it was the M6.

"Regarding this video, and many of you may know that I am pro Z06 due to it's amazing performance out of the factory, but I hate to tell ya that there is nothing surprising about this video. You have to understand that the Z06 is damn near perfectly geared to 160 mph. 4th gear goes to 160 and it is geared 1:1. Once the Z06 shifts out of 4th and into 5th, this is when the Z06 is not so super car like anymore. 5th gears is geared so long that it is useless for acceleration. This is why the Z06 gets 28-30 mpg on the expressway. 5th gear has a .74:1, again, useless for acceleration. So while the Z06 is geared to go fast from 120-160, the M6 is geared to go fast from 160-190. It utilizes its 1:1 in 6th gear I believe. Think about that for a second. That is like the Z06 being in 4th gear.

As a huge m5 (slightly less m6) fan I find this very impressive. Good as the BMW may be, the c6 z is just a juggernaut. Keith just caught it at the perfect moment. Sadly with 1k in mods it would have been a bit diffrent. Does anyone else just think the z06 just isn't fair?

even though i like bmw and the m6 better than the z06 i think this race was retarded. i would much rather have a gearbox that fast from 0-160 and then have good fuel economy compared to the M6 that pulls at 120. thats just retarded

ummm.. guys... you are missing something HUGE

Had i seen that mod list i would have put every cent i own on that m6.... want to know the reason why? Gearing... look at the final drive being a 3.91, and the fact that he has 7 speeds means that he accelerates REALLY quickly. had he been on the stock diff it would have been a different story.

case and point. My friend has a S/Ced 96 328, i have a cammed 328, we both have 3.38 rear ends I can keep up with him till he builds over ~5psi of boost, at 5K. We redline at 7. when he had is 3.15 diff, he could not pull away from a stock 95 M3 very fast at all, where as i kill them. Its all gearing... Once that Z06 puts it in 6th gear its over.. and you can see him do that... its when the m6 just starts walking him
