Default Ayrton Senna Tests the NSX-R

This is one of my favorite videos of the late great Ayrton Senna. His skill level still blows my mind every time I see old footage of him. If you haven't seen him drive before you should just search YouTube for his name and check out some of his Formula One video. Ayrton Senna around Monaco is especially impressive.

What's interesting in this video is how he's seemingly unprepared to test drive the car. He just walks up in his loafers and takes it for a "casual" spin around Suzuka. He heel-and-toe downshifts (in his loafers) and drifts ever-so-slightly around some of the corners pushing the car to its limits and beyond. He's really pushing it at around the 2 minute mark. Beautiful driving.

Didnt you guys know that Nomex Penny Loafers were his speed secret?

BTW, interesting that he would be speaking english just to have it translated into japanese.

My dad died the same year Senna died, Senna first. That was one of the only times I ever saw my dad cry.

Best find in a long time. By far my favorite F1 driver of all time. When he died, Brazil's government declared like three days of mourning. Just a tremendously talented driver.

I remember watching that race on Speed at like 2:00 AM. I could not go to sleep after witnessing it.

anyone notice that it seems like the first thing he does is reach in and check the tires. He may not seem prepared but he was allways a pro.

That guy is getting more info thru what looks like casual glances than many race engineers get with a complete inspection.

That guy was truly special and I dont mean that in the Olympic way...

I did see that. What an amazing gifted individual. Always the gentleman, aways modest and alway a bad ass driver. I rem years back when Audi was fielding the Quattros, Senna drove for them, he DOMINATED. They kept throwing more and more restrictions on his car, from throttle body to skinny tires, never hurt him one bit.

I suppose God needed a personal driver.

RIP to my inspiration for driving. Track, street or dirt and sand.

Oh, and PS, shoes do not make the driver. I can rock just as hard in my KCNY loafers as I can in my track shoes.
