IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2008 | do these huge wings on time attack cars actually have testing to back up their function? ive never seen these huge wings on anything other than time attack stuff. is the whole idea behind them to get the wing out of the natural aerodynamics of the car to provide more grip? |

I'm sure they are functional and provide downforce... or why else have em? I'm not sure where I'd be able to find any testing to show proof but I'll try searching some as this got me interested also. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2007 | Back in '96 or so, BTCC allowed wings as long as they were below the roof line. Volvo immediately switched from this... to this. Last season on Top Gear, The Stig (aka Micheal Schumaker) spun off the track in a supercar of Swedish descent, IIRC. He "said" (via Clarkson), that if the builder put a wing on it, he could run 4 secs a lap quicker. They did. He did. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2007 | That AMS car is a beast. But you call those wings? This here's a wing: Not only does it provide downforce, but it also can block the view of all drivers following it. -from Pikes Peak '09 |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2007 | Now that's a wing. IIRC, that was a new Unlimited Class record run. He finally beat Rod Millen's 10:04. By the way...congrats AMS on yet another stunner. |
