Don't even get me started on Caterhams. There's a local guy that autoxs a Westfield with a 'busa engine. Makes me wish I had more time and room.
Yea, they are starting to sell quite a bit more. But hey, laziness and demographics are dictating that. But still...it's all relative..they aren't really selling past the Mustang anyway..hence no more Magnum. Hell, even the Camaro may be screwed before it's even released b/c people just can't afford it anymore.

But we'll see. The aging baby boomer generation will have nostalgic ties to the new cars, but I do not think they can sustain it if the economy and gas situation gets worse.

I live near a bike shop, and the owner has a Caterham and an original 356, repainted in guard's red. Very often do I nearly hit the curb lol

GM definitely missed the retro wave. I refuse to believe it took them 4 model years to build a car to compete with the Mustang. All they had to do was build a car with the same dimensions, weight, and HP and add an independent rear end with an LSD and they're have it beat in the handling department.

Problem is development costs. What was holding up the Challenger and Camaro was the IRS..the LRA costs so little to make that you skip months of development and cost cutting. Hence we see the auto only options (at least that's my theory).

And it's not like muscle car guys really really really stress handling

My basic point is that the car is riding one two facets, and the rest of it is merely BS.

And yes, I watch Top Gear. But if you read any review of the 997T (or Porsches in general) it'll mention that they don't kill trees nearly as much as you'd expect.
I'm not saying I find the car attractive, however some do. Like I said, to each is own.

Yea. I wonder how much of it is genuine attraction vs nostalgic attraction.

If they were to get truly retro, they would remember that the Z/28 was originally offered to homogulate for Trans Am Racing.

Yea, that'll never happen. Just as now the Mustang apparently competes with the Corvette...

Although..the zeta chassis/whateverthehellitscallednow was developed by Holden, so there is promise.

Well that's pretty much it. Men in mid-life crisies looking to relive their youth.

Hope this helps~Road & Track:

*****— and that is having the ability to do long, languid burnouts or getting you to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds while romping through the quarter mile in 13 flat. There's plenty to be said for straight-line thrills.***

They have the "auto-shift" thingy. Its not bad. I haven't messed with it too much but its not bad. Imho the computer shifts it better in "auto".
My favorite bit is the built in 0-60 timer. Thats fun to play with.
