I think you guys are beign a bit too hard on the design. yes that hatch is ugly...and the sedan is weird, but so is the 2.5 bread and butter 04-07 impreza. It's a very plain car and it is hard to imagine why people would spend 30K+ on it's upscale brother given the base model is anything but exciting. yet, my sti parked next to a 2.5 impreza looks...well not quite as plain (and that's an understatement).

My point is, subary can add a few style changes here and there on the 08 sti line (wing + scoop + aerodinamic lines + extras + power) and easily turn opinions fast.

I will conceed to the fact that mitsubishi has a better starting point as the evo does look way better at this point. But then again, mitsubishi will set the bar subaru will have to match or surpass. Releasing the sti after the evoX is out, gives subaru an advantage since they can develop it to match or surpass the competition.

Also I can't say I'd buy a mitsubishi even if it was better. I need a reliable car after all

Unless the Sti is compleatly different from the wrx, I see a EVO X in my near future.

good point. think about the difference between the EVO and the regular Lancer, the bodies although the same size show a different front, sides and rears. enough that one can easily tell which car is which.

i can only hope it will be the same with the new WRX/STI
