I keep reading all of these articles comparing these cars, and have even seen a top gear video of them comparing the Evo, STi, and S4. the sti got last in acceleration on the video run, how can that be?

The STi in Top Gear is probably the Eurospec version which uses the 2.0L engine. The Evo in Europe is also more powerful than the one in the US (well at least the top of the line Evo model)
