Did you guys also hear Jay's other comment about the STi? It was along the lines of "If this came with a German badge people would be buying them like mad". He seemd quite impressed with our little Subie! Oh yeah - I voted for the obvious winner also. (not knocking the Porsche, but it really DIDN'T have the performance to back up the price discrepancy, and I love Porsches). 8) Go STi!

Did the Porsche outperform the STi on braking? It had 6 pot calipers front brakes!!

My hard copy of the Road And Track issue on the nominations arrived today. With the price, performance and AWD as well it is just a no brainer !

I of course voted for the STi. I mentioned in the comments section how it was a tough decision with a 100k Porsche in the mix but the performance to price ratio made the STi an obvious choice. Not to mention the practicality of a 4 door sedan with a usable trunk and AWD.

I casted my vote

I saw the 30-minute show on Speed Vision last night. It was nice to see the STi tearing up the dirt trails as well as blazing down the track at a nice trap speed of 103.6 mph. It almost bested the Porche's 68.7mph slalom speed w/a 68.4. The 350Z seems to be obvioulsy more of a tourer than an all out sports car and both Leno and another driver commented on the lack of punch in the RX-8 engine but praised it's practicality. The BMW is the luxury car of this group and is hard to compare. The Porche is obviously the greatest performer but then it costs 100K

If the winner was decided by how big the smiles were on the driver's faces the STi would wins hands down - all of the test drivers were smilng ear to ear.

Go STi 8)
