Default Redesign update...

Looks great in my opinion. I've wanted a REX for years, which is why I bought an RS in 00, but this has convinced me that it's time to upgrade.

Looks like the Nurburgring photos except for the roof vent and the prodrive spoiler.

The headlights were designed by commitee. Are they round, rectangular, or wedge shaped? Yes to all three, I think.

The perfomance is good enough to make me overcome this very small setback in appearance.

I'd like two please.

Default Proline F1-gearbox in std. WRX?

The Scoop design is defensible based on aerodynamics and fluid analysis results. The upper edge leaning forward, grabs air and shoves it into the engine compartment allowing less air mass to flow over the top. Combined with what looks to be a larger opening means more airflow for the intercooler and that sounds good to me.

Default Design of scoop is much more than just looks...

quite true, in fact i'm surprised they don't have more problems with hot air venting through the current smaller holes in the hood. I believe it's the Bernoulli Effect, air mass flying over the opening actually creates low pressure and sucks air out.

This looks very neat, I'm sure it will grow on my like the current Suby did. The steering wheel looks awesome.

Those aren't just 'dips'. Those are tears. The poor thing is crying from embarassment. Subaru took the design, threw out the Neon, and jammed in a Mustang and a Civic. You can almost draw hard lines dividing the different pieces. How many Mercedes, BMW's, and Jaguars do you mistake for another car? There really should be a grating in front of that intake to protect small children from being sucked in. The ones that aren't frightened away, that is. I'm surprised they didn't make it chrome and get Mad Max to unveil it.

I must admit that I do really like the lower half of the bumper. Most of it, anyway. Is the wiring still there? Not integrating the rear end of the 'ankle' into the bumper end (to create a flare) was a mistake.

Just goes to show what smokin' schoolgirls' panties will do to designers.

How in hell is this thing supposed to be a sleeper now? It reminds me of WWF wrestlers, dressed up funny but not top-class athletes. If these pictures are correct, I'll have an extra year or two to save up while the aftermarket industry manages to develop a car equivalent of Mrs. Doubtfire padding.

Also notice that the hood curvature has been inversed, I suppose to get the air flowing over the middle to go faster.

I'm happy to sit where I am and watch your tail lights if this is what the front looks like; the bad form shows up even from inside...
When the NA auto show confirms that the styling gets no better, I'm taking back my deposit.

Ha! Yeah right.

I can't believe that people with the current bug eyes can call this ugly. I honestly think both designs are ugly but I definitely like this new one better. As much as the new headlights grew on me I never did care for them.

A sleeper?!?! The WRX doesn't even look like a sleeper and the STi with a bigger scoop, throatier exhaust note, wing, and 17" gold wheels is far from looking like a sleeper. Actually how can any vehicle with a hood scoop and wing look like a sleeper? I never understood the appeal of having a sleeper. A friend of mine loves his regal becuase he calls it a sleeper. I always wondered what's the point. It's not like anyone is going to try and race you or anything because it doesn't look like anything to worry or bother with and when you tear ass off the line the guy next to you probably won't even be trying because of your "sleeper". Anyway there are going to be people that love this new look and of course people that hate it, just like when the new WRX came here. You can't make everyone happy. And just like the WRX, the performance package you get will outweigh the looks which is why the WRX sold so well here comapred to the rest of the world. My purchase of an STi will still depend on what features we get not so much the looks.

I don't know about that hood scoop but otherwise I like it a lot better than the current model.

One more thing I noticed. I think that is the Prodrive edition based on the wing and guages. Also I think the current Prodrive edition gets a bigger hood scoop, so hopefully that scoop won't be so big on the WRX or STi.

Are you sure that's the Prodrive edition or is it that all STi's are going to look like that now (big wing etc.)??

Yup, after looking/reading everything over on the site I think that is the new STi. When they mention differences/improvements over the current STi they mention the wing, scoop, etc, and MORE POWER, which is in PS so in HP terms I am not sure how much more.
